Joe, I just talked to him, he says it has power vents, but I am not sure he knows what he is talking about. I asked him to send me pictures of both front door panels. I will let you know if he does!
A few years ago, I have seen a 65 Wildcat Custom convertible for sale in Montreal that had power vents and 66 Wildcat Custom door panels on Ebay that had vent window switches. I don't have pictures however. I have also seen what looked like a power vent window switch in a 65 Wildcat Custom 4 door hardtop in a movie. The door panels were shown in at least two scenes but curiously, one showed manual windows and vents on the driver's side while another scene showed a power vent switch in the passenger side door panel (or my eyes are bad). I guess they found two 65 Wildcat Customs with black interiors to make this film! If you have the "chance" to see it, it's a children movie called "Bingo". Be prepared to watch something boring! http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&cf=info&id=1800164839
My 65 Wildcat 46639 had manual windows but I converted it to power windows. It wasn't hard and I kept the original door panels. Because it was made in Canada, it has door panels and armrests that are similar to those in the 65 Electra so I found correct switches for it. This before
It did cost about 250$ for 4 doors and 3 other used power windows motors as 3 of the doors had bad motors. It took two hours to remove the doors and power window wiring from the parts car in a junkyard, another 3 hours to remove the regulators from the doors, another 6-7 hours to complete the installation. I'd expect it to be easier on a 2 door as 4 dors need to have their rear pillars and doors drilled to install the wiring harness. It wasn't really hard, it just takes some time! after:
I also want to add power vents to my cat. I have not seen the dual switches with the paddles vertical like that. Those are cool. I have only seen two cats with power vents (other than those shown here) and both where Canadian cars. I'm looking for the parts if anyone has them for sale. Rick
power wing windows in a `66 Kitty Kat I picked up a power wing window set up complete with the door panels from a canadian Wcat this past summer.Everything looked very factory but it was obvious whoever did the switch installation in the trim panel actually cut the hole...that`s not to say Buick didn`t do it but if you look at the backside of a `66 Wcat trim panel there is no "punchout" in this area as there is for the PW and P Lock switch positions. I have a `66 Buick Fleet catalogue which clearly illustrates the P Vent switches in the trim panel pics..but they are artist illustrations and not actual photos. It would be nice to find a build sheet, original purchase order, window sticker as documentation.
These are the part numbers for the power vent switches from a Canadian parts manual. It shows that the option was available many full size Buicks. 4434589 and 4435282 were for 65 Wildcat (466) 4 doors with cloth interior like mine (mine has 980 trim), all 65 (482-484) Electras and the base (482) 66 Electra. 4432793 was for the Wildcats with vinyl interiors and all LeSabre models. Only Custom-trimed (454) LeSabre and (466) Wildcat models are showed since the base and deluxe models were not available here.
Today, I added power vent windows to my '65 Wildcat, they work great! With the switch part number from the parts book, I was able to locate a new driver side switch as it was the same that was used on the 1963-67 Corvette and it's still available. The passenger side switch came from a 65 Electra. Tomorrow, I'll have to send my door panels to the upholstery shop to have the crank holes filled and the cloth covering replaced (it looked bad anyway!). In action! Driver side switch (#4434589). Passenger side switch (#4434582, same as the power window switch).
I had the upper part of the front door panels redone today (and the crank holes filled), here's what they look like now: Now I'll have to do the rear ones as the vinyl on the top part has yellowed and the cloth insert's color faded.
