Please ignore if this is old news to everyone.... I needed replacement backup light housings for my 67 Special/GS resto mod project as mine were rusted out beyond saving. They are in a real bad spot on these cars as they line up pretty well even with the rear tires and catch a lot of crud off the tires. Anyway, I couldn't find anyone selling them. However, I did notice that several places sold the lenses and gaskets. I crossed these with a 67 GTO and found they were the same. Figured if the lenses and gaskets are the same, the housings are probably the same and several places listed the housings for the GTO. I called Parts Place and ordered up a pair of the housings they had listed for a 67 GTO. Installed them today and they fit perfectly. Long story short, if you need backup housings for you 67 Special/Skylark/GS and can't find them, order a set for a 67 GTO, same part.
Repro. The connector on the wire was different so I cut off the OE one from my rusted out units and used it. Also uses a rubber tube instead of a spring in the light socket but that didn't seem to cause any problems. I was pleased to be able to find a housing that fit. Mike
