Hey everyone! This is my first post here, I hope this is the correct section to post this. Here goes.... I have a 1967 Electra 225 with the 430 in it, and I need to find a fuel tank. I would prefer to find a new/reproduction tank if possible. I did some digging around with google, but I didn't have much luck finding a tank for my old Buick. Any suggestions?
Welcome aboard! I looked for a replacement tank back in the '80's & '90's with no luck, I ended up installing a fuel cell eventually. Try posting in the "parts wanted" section, you might find someone who can help. Keep an eye on ebay, too! Devon
Devon, Thanks for the quick reply! Would you happen to have any pictures of your fuel cell setup? If this is the way I'm going to have to go with it, I'm going to need some ideas. Brendan
Just a shot in the dark, but would a tank from a Cadillac DeVille work? They might be easier to find.
Not really, although I know some chassis/suspension parts will interchange, which is why I think the tank may be similar enough to work. You may have to reuse the filler tube though. I haven't had to do this myself so I don't know the answer, but it's something to look into as sometimes they will not list a part number for Electra but will list a part number for the DeVille that also indicates use on Electra and the big Olds. It's worth a try.
Gas Tank (Less Filler Neck ) Group 3.001 #1377460 1967 5000-6000-8000 series = 1967 LeSabres, Wildcats and Electras. I do not see another year with the same part number but some years might be close enough to bolt up even with some differences. However the 66 and 67 Electra filler neck bear the same part number. It is available at http://www.buickfarm.com.
