I am a newbie here. Looking to replace my air cleaner housing. Not sure if these are sold somewhere or custom built. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I added a photo to show how beat up it is.

I was thinking of taking out and sanding/finishing this one however not sure best options. I love the original top with "Buick" on it.

I will add an image once I am allowed.

Thanks Devon....that's what I figured. Do you think those decals will look good? Again I'm new to this and don't want to do anything that's not sort of standard. Will people look at the decals and know right away that it isn't original stuff? Sorry if that's a real a dumb question...

They look nice, but unfortunately because the original lettering is actually painted on, you can tell the difference between the two. The decals are printed on glossy material, so the better your gloss black paint job, the better the clear portion of the decal will blend in.

I suppose you could also cut each letter out to minimize the amount of clear decal being applied, but that too would be a challenge.

One of the decals on mine , I had already painted my air cleaner more of a satin but most people dont know the difference from orig and I dont open my hood much as its a driver

Did you have to sand/restore yours much prior to painting? Any tips? See the pics of mine here - http://www.mwoska.com/225.html

It's a bit beat up. Not sure how it got so dented but want to restore it some.

Was the original pain a gloss black?

Tom, your question about the original finish makes me have second thoughts about my earlier comments. Honestly I'm not sure if the original finish was gloss or satin.

I have some photos of a '67 Electra shown at the Sloan Museum car show in the '80's that had less than 1000 miles on the odometer, I took a lot of underhood pics. I'll dig them up and see if I can draw any conclusions.

Mine didnt have the beat up snorkel like yours has but had a bit of rust I have access to a bead blaster so it was easy to clean up several coats of primer sanding and several coats of paint I just used a spray can but a good quality paint.

Wrong air cleaner must be from a newer one

Roy...thanks. I have access to the tools to do it right. No clue how/why the snorkle (Is that what it's called?) is so banged up and not sure how to fix.

That air cleaned on EBay is the wrong one? Just double checking cause it sure looks nice. :)
