I'm out, just bought Jim Blackwood's 1970 heads from the MG BBB project.

Are these heads known to be good? Have they been run or pressure-tested since porting work was done? I've heard some horror stories from Buick machinists about cracks in between the valves too. Guess what I am saying is that I may still be a possible buyer but would hate to buy a set of heads long distance and then find out they aren't any good. Will know on Monday if I can put the other head project on hold for a while.

Let me know - I know when I got them from GranSportSedan that there was nothing wrong with them and I never installed them, they have been in my climate controlled garage since I picked them up.

I bought these heads for alot more than what I am asking - they are a great deal!!

  6. The heads were an excellent set of ported heads when i bought them from Gary Paine. I sent them to Lloyd Creek for some additional work and wet flow bench testing. the numbers Nigel posted are before the additional porting. these are a very nice set of heads.

    northcorner Guess what I'm thinking..

Someone needs to buy these! I bought these:http://v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=47725
Which don't have as good of flow numbers as these offered here. I've run 11.07 with the heads I have with a 3850 lb. chebby truck!! C'mon guys, these are a steal for someone wanting to go fast for such a little investment. Everyone knows that heads are the trick to going fast, so you guys need to step up, this seems very affordable to me.

I guess I will say that I am still interested in these even though it sounds like they have not been pressure-tested or run since completed. Is this true? And, one last question, do any of the previous or current owners know if they have been milled, and if so how much?

I don't know if the heads have been milled, but they have been resurfaced - they do not appear to have been shaved any more than to clean up the surfaces and make them flat....... I hope that answers your question.

$1000.00 for these heads shipped - great deal for someone wanting to hit 11's with a street car (and flow enough to hit 10's with a good setup) :3gears:

I'm building a 430 to go in a 69 gs.I wonder what the compression ratio would be on my engine with these heads? I'm interested if you think they would be streetable on pump gas. If the other members pass.

with the polished chambers - it minimizes any detonation - I have no idea what the compression would be - I would assume that these heads have the same chamber size your original heads do. :3gears:
