OK guys I have done the whining we need you to do the follow-up. email these guys and bug them to get with it. here is a copy of the emails that have gone back and forth so far, now it your chance to get the ball rolling! Their email info@goldenleafautomotive.com Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. If you go to V8Buick.com and set up an account and then post that you are considering manufacturing the moldings watch the responses. You have to remember that this represents only the computer literate group of people, there are about 60% more out there that you could add to those responses. A friend of mine runs a parts location service and he tells me that he receives requests almost weekly for these moldings, mainly from guys that call his 1-800 number,(60%) and the rest from on-line. He tells me that is about his ratio for almost all of his parts requests. If you were to ask someone on any of the Buick sites to provide a set for copying for manufacture I can guarantee you that a set would be offered up, they are a tight community and would almost do anything to help out there fellow owners to fix-up their cars. You would sell hundreds of sets,(the rear moldings are the hardest to come buy the front extension piece is the next hardest to acquire), if they are reasonably priced with in a year. I can buy a set of 4 Chevelle moldings for around $100.00, us Buick guys would pony up to $250.00 for a set for our cars. Also the Chevelle, Mustang,Challenger junk cars are getting so expensive compared to a comparable Skylark that if more parts were available, more would be getting rebuilt/restored. There are many other parts becoming available all the time,(many Chevelle/GTO/Cutlass parts are interchangeable), but there is a gap in moldings and body parts for the 64-67 Skylarks. I guess the challenge to a company like yourselves is to be a leader or a follower, you call yourselves a molding company and I'm sure you sell to Year One and OPG, if you are a manufacture, ask them for there feed back. As I pointed out there is so much stuff available for comparable cars that have driven the price of them beyond the hobbyists pocket book this maybe an opportunity for yourselves to carve out a nice market to capitalize on. Just to give some credence to what I'm stating, I currently a sales manager for an aftermarket truck accessories distribution warehouse and prior to that I owned a manufactures representative agency for a number of automotive products and was the sales manager for a building product manufacture . I have been responsible for the development of many successful products during my career from watching what the competition wasn't doing, so I do have the understanding of product development and marketing of profitable products, (I have a BA in business and marketing). The last set of nice wheel well moldings for these cars sold for $725.00 on ebay and if I recall there were several bids on a three day auction so I know there is a market out there to be tapped into. Just look back at the prices of hard to find emblems and moldings for the belly button collector cars out there only a few years ago, now they are every were for a fraction of the price and selling well even in this economy. I hope I have put the wheels of thought in motion for you to conceder these parts for production and do some research into doing so. First, we need to find a good set of sample to reproduce these molding. Than our factory need to justify the cost of tooling machine made for these molding will be return by not selling at a 1000 dollar a set. It is very hard to for manufactory to make any parts if we know consumer are not going to spend that kind of money for a set of molding... I'm, and so is every other guy that owns a Skylark, looking for wheel well moldings for these cars. If somebody does they will sell hundreds of these moldings in short order since they are almost none to be found. Now I could be a coward and sell my Skylark and do a Chevy or Mustang and have easy parts to come by but then I would be just another in the heard. If you can help us Trishield guys out we would be beating a path to your door. If not....change your name to Belly Button Molding Co. lol, after all anybody can restore a Chevelle, Mustang or a Challenger but a real purist,(or idiot), will do something more unique. Hope you can help us out.... Ross subject=Parts Inquiries Form send=SEND
Come on guys lets keep this going! Lets hound these guys into total submission so they get on the program it's the only way we can get suppliers to address the shortage of parts for our cars. You 66 guys can get on the band wagon as well! You will need moldings and panels for your cars too!
I thought I would try this again and rally the troops once more to see if we can get something happening. Come on all you 66-67 owners out there send them an email and maybe we will get results. Don't make me have to hunt you down and make you send a message!!! Ross
