My wiper motor has stopped parking the blades on my '67 GS. They will just stop wherever I turn off the switch. Seems like I remember a parking circuit. Don't get me wrong, I don't plan to drive it in the rain, just want everything to work correctly. Anybody got any ideas?

    Thanks

Am not sure of the exact problem you are having, but both my 64 and 67 do similar things.
If you don't stop them when they are exactly at the bottom of the windshield, the wipers will sit up in a higher position.
My first 64 Skylark I had did the exact same thing and that was back in 68 when it was only 4 year old.
There are 2 types of wiper motors used on GM A bodies. Skylarks used the type with the motor that came straight out with the washer pump next to the motor.
Some chevelles and Lemans models used ones that had the motor off to the side with the washer pump attached to the motor assembly (same as most 68-72 Skylark/GS).
The wiper assemblies are referred to as non-depressed park (64-67) and depressed part (68-72). I would have to look into it further, but I don't think the 64-67 ones were ever meant to park themselves, just stop at the bottom of the windshield or as close to it as possible.

Mark,i think you misjudged the problem and question,he means lets say you have your wipers on an decide to shut them off and you hit the off switch while the wiper arm is still in the up position it stops in the position you hit the switch to off where normally it has to stop when the arm is all the way down.

    Thanks

    George,
I see what you mean. Haven't tried to stop mine anywhere other than at the bottom. They may do that too.
Have to check the chassis manual and see what they suggest could be the cause.
Have had the 68+ ones keep running when shut off. There is a control in them to keep power until they reach bottom and then park.
There may be a similar setup in the base of the earlier units. Either way, I am sure it is a pain to get them apart and fix.

They are suppost to stop in the bottom position at all times even if you hit the off switch while they are still up.

    Thanks

That's right. The wiper arms stop wherever they happen to be when I switch off the wipers. They are supposed to return to the bottom of the windshield.

The service manual mentions a "park switch." That must be the problem. Does anyone know if that's internal to the wiper motor or is it in the dash switch assembly? I assume it's in the wiper motor? Wherever it is, is it an easy fix?

put it this way,i thought it was the wiper switch,so i bought an NOS one and it still did the same think after that,so next thing it has to be is the wiper motor.

    Thanks

Am pretty sure it is in the motor assembly.
It is on the 68+ ones. You will likely have to get the whole motor out of the car and all apart.
What I would do first is make sure that the wire connections are good at both the dash switch and at the motor. I would sure hate to take the whole thing apart and then find a poor connection was the cause.
If the park switch is bad, I don't know how easy it would be find a new one.
