Hey guys. I have a 69 Special Deluxe (skylark) I'm about to install the inner fenders and fenders after repairs and paint on and I was curious about the procedure y'all use.

Are you supposed to bolt the inner fenders in loosely then put the fenders on and try and finesse the inner fender over the the lip of the fender tabs? Or are you suppose to try to put the inner fender on at an angle to somehow hook the inner fender into place as it goes on?

Or do you just bolt them together outside of the car and then try and finesse the whole thing into place at once?

I remember doing them separately (inner fender install then fender install) but I remember having a heck of a time getting the lip in place before I corrected all of the tabs and am not looking to scratch up all my my new paint.

I read that, with a chevelle, it's easier to do it in two pieces but wanted some info from the experts

    Any thoughts?

Remove wheel and install as a unit is easier for two guys...for just one you'll be better imo to install fender leave bottom bolts out and then install inner fender

    When you say
I'm guessing the engine would have to be out?

I went ahead and tried bolting it together and installing it as a unit with my wife and it was actually pretty easy! Definitely recommend going this route if any tries it in the future and has a friend.

Only thing though is the front bumper would ideally need to have been taken off. It was a tight fit to slip the front past the bumper to get it in

Nah no need for the engine to be out..just the wheel and yea the front bumper will make life alot easier..you can just loosen the rear bolts and remove the front then swing it down
