The console boots that everyone sells is made by Metro Rubber products. There are some differences with the repros. The rubber that its made from is glossy. Also its made of a thicker rubber. I had to leave the lower retaining ring off my console when I installed it. But, its better than a tattered boot or nothing at all in my opinion.

    Jason,
I stole that picture from this website. I think it was Scott Miller that power washed his deck.

So I take it Duane that since you were making them that no one else even offers them for the 68-72? Are there any future production runs for this part?

As far as I know, they are not currently reproduced, by anyone except me, and I make mine by hand.

I did look into doing it by machine, and checked into the tooling/parts pricing. Basically the cost exceeded $15,000 for the first run, so I figured the $ amount killed making the part.

"Are there any future production runs for this part?"

I do not have any plans on doing them. The way I have to make them hurts my wrists, so I am not interested in doing many. Basically, I have offered them "as a favor" to the Buick guys that need them.

After this hopefully someone else will step up to the plate.
    Sorry
    Duane

    Andrew,

It looks like some Oldsmobiles used the same ring - that might be another option to pursue.

If the ring is identical I would fathom that thought, but if it is not an exact match then it won't do me any good.

I bought a floor hump that supposedly came out of a 69 442. It looks just like my original and the ring matches up to it.

I show the upper retainer to be 1361010 and the lower to be 1361011. I think you are referencing the lower.

Ted, go back to the first page and look at the first post by Duane. He has a picture of an original that looks just like his repros in the post.

What is the "hump" you are all referring to? I am about to do a conversion to 4-speed so have no consolette. I thought I'd just have to cut a hole in the tunnel. Is there something else that has to go over the hole to create this hump? I see Greg Davis used some sort of thing from a Chevelle, I think, but is that something Buick did?

Also, what's the preferred boot people are using and where do I get it. I want to have as original a look as possible.
