    Guys,
The boot pictured is only for a non-console car. The lower boot for a console car is different. The lower ring is the same but the boots are different.

I know they were reproduced, because I was going to come out with them, but another company beat me to the punch. I believe they are still available, but am not sure of that.

    Duane,

Do you have a pic of the lower boot for console cars? I was told they were the same, and even used my original non-console boot when I added my console and it seems to fit and looks OK.

    Thanks.

    James,
I don't have a pic, but Poston used to sell them. They are a much thinner construction then the non-console boots, and don't have the extra lip where a non-console boot would overlap the carpet.

If you have an assembly manual it should show a picture.

Duane you are correct in the application and i have the last 3 metro made before the mold was ruined. It costs 7k to retool the mold and they will not do it.The ones the other companies are selling are wrong!! Don

Duane you need to do them if what Don says is true as the Buick boys do not want to be paying $150 for a $5 boot.

    Guys,
For years I had an NOS one that I borrowed to make a mold, but recently gave it back, and I am sure it is on a car by now.

I guess we would need to see how wrong the reproduction is before proceeding, and Jim the part would not be a $5.00 boot. It has a very limited market, and even a low-volume mold would be costly for me to make.

I bet the reason Metro is not interested in re-doing the mold is because they sold so few parts it is not economically feasible to re-do it again. I have a few parts like that right now, and if/when the molds go, that will be the end of them.

Of course this is another reason why us Buick owners should buy our needed reproduction parts while they are still available.

Should have specified with the non console boot pic- Metro is on the left, original is to the right. Metro provides a bigger edge to overlap the carpet.

    Eric M,
If I understand you correctly you are saying that the Metro piece is not the same as the original, and has a larger lip that extends over the carpet? Now I am getting really confused.

I also saw one of my lower shifter boot retaining rings in the one picture.

That's correct Duane. The original is a little smaller. If you flip the Metro over the ring mouting flap is the same size. The Metro LOOKS more foregiving in regards to how you cut the carpet.
That is one of your rings. Got it from you about 2 years ago for my bench seat 4spd 70. It is exact- great job. Bench seat car project has taken a BACK SEAT since I bought the X.

    Eric,
Thanks for clearing that up. I have seen some of the larger shifter boots but was not sure who made them.

Looks like the original one Keith.

BTW- The Metro repro also has the name "METRO" molded into the underside.
