Hello! I am new to the forums, but I have several classic cars, mostly Chevelles. I have been contacted by a private owner that has a 1968 GS 350 California and am seeking additional info on it. I have tried, without success, to find production numbers and current values for such a car. I am hoping to purchase the car and show it. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks ahead of time! Howie
Welcome to the board!!! there was 4831 cali GS's produced in 68 Source: Buickperformancegroup.com also check out that site when you get a chance its a great site! as far as value Im not very informed on these cars, someone else will chime in Louie
Howie, His asking price of $9,500 seems high to me, but I would want to see how the engine and interior look. Also check for rust or body damage. For that kind of money I would expect a really nice car needing no work. Interior pieces have to be special ordered and are very expensive. The California's are built based on the bottom of the line special model, and there resale value is probably between a skylark and a gs 350. 68's probably have the lowest resale value out of all of the years. Chris
Are you open to restoring one? I have a 68 GS California that is all there except one california emblem. The car has rust through around the backglass and trunk but is in pretty good shape to restore. I'm asking $3000 cash for it. If you are interested Give me a call. 541 761 8944. The Car is located in Grants Pass, Oregon. My name is Dave Thanks:Comp:
There were 21,988 built of model 43327 which is what the Cali's were classified under, along with the Special Deluxe which was the majority of that #. I'm surprised at the 4831 Cali figure for 1968. The BPG site states that specifically? Can you link to it? BTW, search GS California with the board's search function, there's been a LOT of previous discussion of these.
I had a 68 Cali, I loved it, it was Midnight Blue, sweet ride. Even better after I pulled the 455/tb400/drive shaft/rear end out of my 1974 Buick Century (that got totaled) and droped it into it,...................... All vinyl foam padded seats were standard equipment and bucket seats were optional. To identify, there is a GS 350 plaque on the center of the deck lid as well as the grille, door panels and rear fenders. There was also a "California GS" that was similar to the GS 350 but included a deluxe steering wheel, vinyl roof covering, Super Sport wheels, California script with GS emblems on the grille, roof panels and rear fenders. Among the standard features on the California GS were all vinyl seating, vent windows, chrome exterior tram and 2-speed automatic transmission. Ok another one, a newbie comes in and brings a dead post back to life ou: Well I didn't mind posting what I did, I had fun looking it up and I still love the old 68 Cali I had many moons go. So if someone gets some use out of my posting it was worth it. I've got to learn to look at the post dates from now on ou:  Can we make it a law for the newbies that if they open a many years old post that they have to give up the keys to their car to us :Brow:  :Brow: :TU:
:Comp: Absolutely! :TU: The thread is a good read. I was just saying so, because I didn't think you had noticed the date. I'm just saying:grin:
