    Hey Folks,

A buddy of mine was finally able to buy his old SS back after he'd been chasing it since the mid '90's. It's not often you hear people talk about the "one that got away" only to be reunited with it some 15 years later.

I stopped by his place yesterday and he gave me the VIN #s and some numbers from the trim tag in the hopes that some of the Camaro Gurus might be able to decode whether or not his car came out of the factory with the high horse 396.

    Few particulars:

ZERO options. When I say zero, I mean none. Not even a tachometer.
    Black Standard Buckets
    TR 712
    D 2
    Grotto Blue
    Black Vinyl Top

I have the VIN here which I'd rather send in a PM.

If any other info is needed, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Thanks in advance! :TU:

    Alan,

    Thanks for the link!

I guess what he really wants to know is if this car is a factory L35, 34 or 78.

Doesn't look like that info is available with just the VIN and there's no build sheet either...

Also, if it has a 396, it's not a car that could be characterized as "zero options". Ditto if it has an automatic or a 4-speed. Radio? Probably the same.

    Good point.

Big block, 4-speed, 12 Bolt car....probably should have been a little clearer with that earlier...

    :Dou:

Do you guys recommend a bulletin board that might have more info? The Yenko site maybe?
