Can someone help me know what is different on the front brakes of a Canadian skylark? Friends of mine just got the car, had a wheel bearing fail and now needs a new spindle. The one I sold him from my non-canadian skylark doesn't seat all the way on the lower ball joint (and the backing plate is different as is the hardware). Can anyone fill me in?

It shouldn't be any different, BUT, you are talking about a car that is now 54 years old, and you don't know it's entire history. A lot can happen in 54 years.

Could it be the difference between an Aluminum front drum car and a standard cast iron front drum car.

That might explain the backing plate being different. I know the front wheel cylinders were different. Plus those aluminum drums are big, so they may have different backing plates. (I think Buick stole them off the wagons.)

I had a pair of them on an early 1970 Stage 1.
