I have a 68 GS400 convertible with a color/trim code of T-8. Body color is Desert Beige and from what I can find the top was an Avacado color, There is green paint on the top frame under the black paint. I was told this was an option on A-bodies of this era. Does anyone know any info on this and if this color top is still available? I don't even have a color guide to match it to.
I have seen a dealer trim book but it didn't show an example of the correct color. Do you think the Sloan Museum might have any info available?
I am surprised the color/trim book does not show that fabric.... In '68 there were 116 GS400 Convertibles built with that color top... There was also an Avocado vinyl top available that year. A one year only color as far as I can tell.. :beer
Maybe I was not looking at a complete book or something. Do you know where I can see an example of this color online? I would like to put the car back to original ( it had a white top when I got it) but only if the green color is decent looking. Thanks for the input, I am pretty new at this but am learning fast.
The avacodo color is not a very popular color. There is probably not a repro available. You will need to find a NOS one. I ran into this problem with my 71 Stage 1 H/t needed a buckskin top none available. Good luck Dave
Thanks, It's a start. I hope I can get hold of a couple of good examples to see if a match is possible. I think the right shade might look good but green can be a tricky color to match. I don't really want a beautiful car with a butt-ugly top if you know what I mean. Any other examples out there?
