69 electra: Many good parts for you

What a great addition to this board! Good opportunity to function more like a true global community with garage sale prices and straight up swaps / giveaways just like we would if we all lived in the same city. Ha! Imagine that... Buick City.. Where every lane is extra wide and every stoplight is a drag tree. And dont forget the garage that holds 4 cars built onto every house.

Anyways, heres my scoop. I picked up a 69 electra 4 door for its drivetrain in hopes of eventually finding a skylark to put them in. Few months and a trip to Kansas ( Thanks BuickDav! ) later I now have a `66 Skylark to put them in. This will leave me with a leftover vehicle come next weekend because we'll have finished pulling the parts to be used from what we have come to affectionately call " the whale " due to its white color.

Now, i'd really really like to see at least some of these parts go to people who need them instead of simply being tossed. I'd hang on to all the good stuff until I found a use for them but my better half would be equally happy to see the whale driven into the ocean. So.. One way or another its days are very numbered.

    Whats good:

Most sheet metal, markers, trim, rims are ok, brakes, speed control, tilt column, headliner, glass, grill, hood ornament, & some of the emblems are still there. Speedo and gauges *look* ok but i dunno if they work. Never bothered looking during any of the short jaunts the car has made in my possession. Bumpers are both lightly bumped & scraped but if they were replacing a wrecked one it would be a hell of alot better than nothing.

I was hoping to find someone restoring a 2 door or convertible that wanted the whole thing as a parts car but Im kinda not thinking im going to find him/her anywhere near me. Maybe if I lived in Austraila. ;)

Anything yall want I'll gladly hand over. I'd rather not mess with shipping stuff all over the place but if the item isn't bulky / heavy
I'll donate the time to ship it to anyone willing to cover the shipping costs.

Need a picture of something? Just lemme know, I'll have it another few weeks before the sawz-all goes to work. :Brow:

Bummer, thats to far away. I was hoping to rescue the front fenders, but I think shipping would kill me. Txgwildcat, what color dash bad do you need and is it an A/C pad or not?

Its black but the dash is trash. I pretty much listed all the stuff that was in decent shape. Its safe to assume that anything not listed is crap. Sorry man. It seems so far that the parts people need are the ones that are in bad shape.

Sorry buddy. Rotors all the way around. Got a good dual chamber master cylinder and booster though. :)

I'll store them in the garage if your going to be passing through or know anyone else that will be heading up your way from here within the next 9 months. Just let me know. :)

Ac, cruise, speed control, power seats ( split bench ), windows. Thats all I can think of right now. I honestly don't know what else was available on that model. :)

Yup! Still have it. The only thing thats spoken for so far is the heater coil once I take it out.

This car is old and busted. Not new hottness.

Could use one rim - assuming these are rallies - maybe the spare if that's easy?

    Am/FM? Stereo? 8-track? :Brow:

Posi rear by any strange miracle?

    hm

i have a few things that i am going to need, since i already have connections in the car transport world i might consider taking the whole car off of your hands. we have transported 38 and 39 plymouth trucks from here there and yonder to our house cause my dad is in love with them. what kind of shape is the body in? i have one or two (literally) small places that i might have to cut out and replace. also the weatherstripping at the top of the firewall, the entire strip with the two metal and rubber ends, if i can think of anything else i'll let you know. i'll also check with my dad and check on possibly taking the whole car, let me know if you have a problem with that. :p thanks alot. -Evan

    Re: Radio

I would do that but I havent got anything else to put on the car and need it to roll for now. The spare isnt a ralley and it looks like the tire on it is from the 70's. Ironically I had to use it on my skylark even though the bolt pattern is wrong because I bought the car with a slow flat and didnt have anything else.

Looks stolen. Just a mangled hole in the dash now.

I wish! Sorry bud. Also for some reason i said the car has rotors all the way around. It has drums. I must have been on to many hotdogs or not enough coffee.

    Re: hm

That would be so awesome! By decree of my wife im not allowed to buy anything more for my skylark until the electra is out of the garage. In fact she just said we could even pay someone to get it out of here. lol

The body is overall in good shape. There are some hammer marks on the driver side rear quarter and rear door on that same side. All the glass is nice, gonna go look at the trim your talking about because we ripped some of it off trying to figure out how to get trim off of the skylark. *looking* The only trim thats ripped off is the driprails and drivers side rear door sill piece. The rest looks intact. Im not sure which part is the firewall weatherstripping even though I probably stared right at it. Its all there, and the trim piece that sits right below the windshield is nice as well. The front clip is in good shape as well as the front fenders. I think it would make a great parts car for someone other than me. :)

How's the steering wheel? I'm guessing cracked, but big wide cracks or little narrow ones?

Its not to bad really. None bigger than maybe a half inch but the middle horn part looks like a mule kicked it and it wont stay on the wheel. I had pictures somewheres, i'll try an find em. :)
