Orangey coppery bronzey is what I call it.

Look at the burnished brown poly paint chip. Does that look brown to you? Maybe my eyes are getting bad. :Dou:

It's not your eyes. That picture of the chips is awful. When you see the real chart all the colors are vibrant and jump right off the page at you. Plus you can see the metalic look of them. :TU:

I think I have the chart at home in my 69 sales book, but if I recall it didn't look right there either? :Do No:

Your local PPG shop will still have the paint code and formula in their computer and should be able to mix some up. Be careful: I had 1 pint mixed that looked like ____, so the guy was extremely careful on the next pint, which looked correct.

    69 GS Fireglow paint color

I have the same chart, and I have compared it to paint on the car, under the rugs, door jams, and it doesn't look anything like Burnished Brown Poly (code 61) Even thou the paint is original, it couldn't of fade that much. I do like that Fireglow, I was going with PPG Copperhead that was used on C10 in Trucks, the TV show.

The color of your car in that picture is close to what mine looks like in the spots that didn't get painted

Chris, can you sent a pic of the car in the new paint, I having a hard time deciding what color to go with, would like to keep it as close as possible to a 69 GS color.

The pics of my car are in the "new" paint, it was painted in 1990, I bought it in 2000. The spots where mine look like the other one are little spots around the bottom of the convertible top mechanism, etc. that didn't get repainted then .

69 GS Fireglow - I'm going with it

The primer went on today and the car is looking good, straight as an arrow. All the lines look close to perfect. Car has to be blocked and sprayed one more time. I decided to go with the Fire Glow Orange.

I see you have a Burnished Brown GS, do you have any pictures of it? My body man got a price for the 69 Fireglow paint at 280.00 a quart. :Dou:
If anyone has a paint code for new identical paint, please let me know. Man am I glad that the QueenMary 3 is black. :beer

I don't care how much it costs. I'd sell a kidney to keep this color on my car. :pp :pp

I went to my local PPG paint dealer (one who mixes on site) and got it for a price of roughly $300 per gallon, enamel or acrylic, which may or may not have included a gallon or two of reducer. (I can't remember -- tried to put the price out of my head.). I damn well know it wasn't $300 a quart!

Sounds like your body man is either sticking it to you, or the paint shop is sticking it to him and he's passing it along. :Do No:

Haven't painted anything yet, picture is just showing the factory color compared to the faded body color. And yes the door jams and edges of the sills, rockers, windows will be painted to match rest of car.

GSJohn BUICK is a beauty too!!

Here is a 69 Gran Sport California with the Fire Glow Orange poly color. It is a late year 69 color (spring of 1970) original color suggests production was very late in 1969. I think this color combo is striking! :bglasses:
