Bench seat, 4-speed car ordered to do one thing and one thing only. Rare bird. I wonder how long before George asks if anyone in Billings can take a look at it.
Saw it last week, commented on the post. The guy is high as…. Let me rephrase- the guy can ask whatever he wants for it… In my opinion, the car is maybe a $15,000 car on a GREAT day… otherwise, it’s just another POS project step child…
For those who aren't on Facebook. This car is in exceptional condition and is a driver as is......it is one of 415 made and all numbers match......has been rebuilt once and bored......otherwise it is all original except for the carb and i have the original.....price is firm.....ill hang onto it otherwise......thx for looking.......have title etc
I tend to agree with the exception of what, if any rust/repairs is hiding under that paint. If none, & esp. on a stepchild, that's a big plus & maybe worth a premium (maybe brings it to the $15-18k range & if rusty closer to $10k) but then there's fixing the holes in the hood. Even then, a labor of love but if I was going to own a stepchild, this would be a neat one to have. At $29k (firm), I think he'll be hanging onto it but hey, in this market doesn't hurt to test the waters.
His definition of exceptional condition is very much different from my definition of exceptional condition.
It looks like an original pinstripe car (second design, ‘through’ the rear wheelwell instead of over). With the exception of the rear right quarter where the stripe is absent, it may be mostly original paint. The metal may be better than the hood pin holes and fender indicate. Patrick
Rear window channel is rotted- look at the rust on the interior side of the window... Bet you the trunk is rotted. Cool it's a stage stick... But, NFW at $29,000
Patrick- you are correct- I do see a small tab of red paint in the door jam. It's cameo cream (it's a love it or hate it color) and scant on options... Hard pass. I think I would be a player at $10,000 or under.. IF the quarters, floors, trunk, inner fenders, doors, rear window channel, and radiator support were rot free.... little fender rot is OK... that's as far as I would go on one of these...
My mother actually had a GS 400 automatic this color with a black vinyl top - before my time and before the '70 Riviera they bought that she claimed was "a lemon" and subsequently traded in for her Bittersweet '71 GS 350 4-speed. Yes, the trishield runs deep...
Yeah that rear window channel could be a Pandora's Box. Looking on Hagerty's valuation page, it is amazing how the 3rd pedal adds like 13K to the price. His price might not be that crazy. I knolw it's just Hagerty but I think they go by actual documented historical sales but who knows?
The seller did have the car listed for 40k firm about two weeks ago then he relisted it a few days ago for 29k firm.
Wasn't there a yellow Motion 69 GS? I could have sworn I have seen a pic of one at some point. Not saying this car is that, but Duane's car and Brian's pics made me think of it. Is anyone familiar with it, or have any pics of it, if it exists?
