Anyone know any details about this GS? https://maymusclecars.com/1969_Buick_GS400_Ram_Air.html It looks nice:TU: Thanks!:beers2:
I don't know the car, but it is on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220743529128
I think a dealer bought it to flip. I've lived here 12 years and have never seen it at any shows. Link's is still on- http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/cto/2174885293.html Here's the Craigslist ad here in Cincy: cincinnati craigslist > for sale / wanted > cars & trucks - by owner --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1969 Buick Grand Sport Number matching 400 big block engine 75,000 original miles Red on black, Ram air hood, Car has factory air conditioning, Power brakes, Power steering, Power antena, Automatic on the floor, Bucket seats, All new interior, All new chrome, G.S factory rims, All new badges, Car in extra nice condition, First 12,500 takes her home. Bruce- there was another board member that was interested in it that sent me the same pics about a month ago. 1. Vinyl top is missing (52= red B= black top). 2. 168= black BENCH interior (168). Right speedo, right column, wrong shifter (from either a Camaro or Chevelle). Not a bad car- if it was $8000 LESS...:Smarty: Also, the rivets ARE wrong. They should NOT have a 'needle' in the middle of them. OK if filled with glue, seam sealer, adhesive, etc. These are NOT original...I don't really know why?
Logic would dictate that either the factory used non-standard rivets for only this car ... or sometime between when it left the factory and now the rivets were changed. As to why, that is beyond logic
I asked seller where the bench seat and vinal top went. He said it's all original, then stop communicating. Buyer Beware.
I'm sure it's just a matter of a proper restoration. Nobody would consider moving a tag around, at least not on this site...ou: I'm sure glad I didn't go look at that one, cause had I missed that I would have been :af: over rosy riviter's handy work and my lack of observational skill:error:
I find it hard to believe YOU wouldn't have seen those rivets. They look like something you'd pull with a cherry-max gun....
Hi Jerry, how are you? I may have missed that tag, but I'm guessing I would have noticed some other cues if the car used to be a Skylark. I tend to believe any car is "as advertised" because that is my nature, foolish as that may be.
Pop rivets. Anytime a cop sees those he goes to one or more of the several other places on the car where the VIN is stamped. To the best of my knowledge there are at least seven places with the VIN. The factory used rosettes that have no center pin.
Steevee- on the VIN tag, yes. This is the trim tag. It is NOT illegal to remove a TRIM tag. Also, the trim tag isn't held on by rosettes. The question on this is WHY was the trim tag removed. Add to this the car had a vynil top and black bench interior. The seller claims it's an ORIGINAL bucket car with no vynil top. It could have been a green, brown, gold GS 400 (as the VIN decodes as a GS 400) from the factory and then someone thought the car would get more money as a red car? OR The cowl was rotted, then replaced. Too many questions on this one...
