    I'm still shakin.
I was instrumental in scoring a real deal 69 Trans am yesterday. Here is a readers digest version:

A tire store literally 100 yards away from my muffler shop.
I send my mechanic up there to return an employees truck we had worked on. He comes back and says, Sorry it took so long I was looking at a 69 Trans Am up there behind the store.
I said Yeah right. He says, Don , the owner says it is a real one.
Still not believing him, I walk straight up there and quiz this 20 something year old guy about the originality of it. He says his grandfather bought it in 1970 from a bank repo for his 16 year old son, (who was this kids dad). The dad and mom are now deceased and left the kid this car.
I tell him I cannot buy it now, (building a 3 car garage) but I know who can.
Ask if if I can take it to my shop to look at it on the lift and my buddy can also look at it, and he throws me the keys.
    Fast forward 2 hours
Me and my friend are scared and nervous somebody is going to see this car on my rack and do the deal before he can.
    Fast Fast forward one hour.
Title is signed over to my friend and a cash and check transaction has been made.
Car was never advertised at all.
Car is completly matching numbers from the carb to the intake ,to the No.48 heads. Also it is a ram air III 4 speed car with no A/C.
And get this guys, even though it has some solid aluminum wheels on it, it was a poverty cap steel wheel car and the guy has all 4 steelies with the original red line tires on it matching the one in the solid trunk.
Car has never sat outside, and the 77000 mile inside is very nice.
Am radio works great as well as the door buzzer.

My friend went to the clerks office this morning and now the deal is done.
One hour after purchase he was offered triple what he paid for it.
If he hangs on to it, it will be with us next year at our races in michigan.

Would that be cool to have this one and Bruno's going down the track together? :3gears:
Guys, I will tell you , that was the most excitement my heart could take for three hours straight. Needless to say, my buisness went to crap the last 2 hours of that ordeal.
The deals are still out there. And yes I did get the PHS faxed in this morning and it is the real deal.
    4 option car:
    4 speed trans
    guages w/tach
    am radio
    trans am option
The lottery was hit yesterday and I am proud to have been a part of it.
    See you guys soon...Don :beer

Great story, Don. I'm sure it went to a good home if he's a friend of yours. Can't wait to see it, only saw one real one up close all my years.

    You're right, they're out there.

Good to hear about great finds like this. Congrats.

My buddy Rich who came to the race with me this year just got a barn find last Thursday. A '71 Go Pack, 4spd, AMX 360 in original paint and solid as a rock! Perfect interior... One owner... He paid 50% of what I paid for my last set of RA IV heads!

That barn wouldn't happen to be in Britton, Mi would it? Rumor has it that there's one in there, but so far no evidence supporting or to the contrary.

    69 Trans Am Pics

Not the best quality pics but you will get the point.
Ram air pan and steel wheels and dogdish hubcaps coming this week.

Way to go Rich for the GO Pak find on the very same day. Sounds like the lottery was hit twice that day.
My buddy says the trans linkage needs to be adjusted. (says 3rd gear is where 4th gear should be and visa versa.)? We did find out the last owner swapped out the 4 spd for a auto for a while so his wife could drive it.
Then put it back in,(probably 20 years ago). My guess is that's why the linkage is out of whack.
Will be putting a tune on it in the next couple of weeks just to see what we have to work with. Original carb may need a kit for now.
Thanks for all the feedback. As we all know, none of this would be that much fun if we did'nt have friends to share it with.
You guys in this pure stock group are nothing but fun and class.
Well-----maybe except for Brian and maybe Jimmy and Miller and Benoit and Bruno and Kenny and Kirk and Copo Pete and Dave H and 20 or 30 other guys. But other than them, everybody has class.

You guys know I'm joking. Talk to you later. Don

    Real nice :TU:
My guess at buying price is at $22,000.
Now if only the deal I was offered will fall through but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Wow that car really looks clean in the pic`s. I take it that it is original paint on it? I hope your friend hangs on to it so that others can see it in Michigan next year. Does anybody know the production figures on the 69`s ? I think the conv. were like 7 or something like that very low I`m just not sure on the hardtops. Mark
