my dad told me a story about him racing a68 hemi corenet rt 4 speed car with his 69 stage 1 4 speed gs ..he said they bought worked afternoon turn at some factory back in 1969..and this guy was running his mouth about how fast his hemi was all week long.so after work they lined up out in front of the place were they worked..and they had at it..dad said they went from the green light,,then from a roll and he keep beatin the guy with the hemi..the guy got pissed off and told my dad to pull off in the parking lot up the street /that he wanted to look under the hood of his gs,dad gets out and pops the hood and the guy comes over with a flash light saying theres no way a buick beat his big bad hemi..the guy shines the light under the hood shaking his head looking down at the 400stage one motor with the stage 2 cam..mumbling something like i just dont understand how you beat me..my dad said later that week the guy sold his hemi car and wouldnt talk smack any more at work..
Good Story...Another Mopar getting spanked by a Buick. :eek2: Happened alot back in the day. By the time the street realized how fast they were, GM stopped building them.... ou:
I had a bone stock `67 Coronet RT with the 426 Hemi back in the mid-70's. I was never very impressed with it. I'm pretty sure my stock `87 T-Type would have walked all over it if I'd had them both at the same time.
