Mr. Lore is quote right (as always!). I belive that Tabco lists some convertible repros, but the operative word here is "correct", or actually incorrect in this case. Their convertible repros look like they basically just used the hardtop mold and took off the sail panels to make the conv mold. The upper body lines are DIFFERENT between the the hardtops and the convertibles.....the contours are different. If you use a repro quarter, you'll have to do a lot of mudding and sanding to get the correct lines. The repros will work o.k., but again, if you want it to look correct, NOS is the only way to go currently, as Jim stated.
Cole is correct that Tabco does make a hardtop quarter which is considered the best repro but the lines are very different when measured at the crown relative to a horzontal plain. Just take a NOS spoiler and put it on a convertible trunk lid. The first thing you will notice even at the back is that the ends of the spoiler are no longer parrallel to the crown line of the quarter. They would be on the hardtop quarter. If you are going to start with something and have a pro fab the rest look at Trace Armstrong's convert. that JW used the Tabco quarters and made the rest. Some pics are on this Board and perhaps his Tri shield Performance website.
8 thousand dollars? that's almost what my car is worth :jd: When I saw a fire recovery '71 Skylark convertible for sale with good rear quarters, I snatched it right up. I got the whole rear clip. the 1/4s need a little bit of work, but I can get inside them easily now, on the bench. Man, eight thousand dollars for NOS convertible quarters. I almost choked when i read that
