this is for The Parts Place...I just finished 2 weeks of mind numbing frustration installing a tpp repro rally guage in my 72 GS...IT SUCKS!!!!!!!---this poorly made hack job piece misses the boat entirely in the lighting department--it is made without the light blue reflective surface on the outer bezel, consequently, when the headlights are on, this guage is about 1/3 as bright as the stock guage.and, it leaks light at the brake/gen lights so that these look half illuminated :blast: ..of course, i discovered this AFTER the entire rechromed dash bezel was INSTALLED!!!!---so after having to remove the entire assembly, adapt a stock outer guage bezel, reinstall, we now have a working setup...what a disaster!!---Run, do not walk away from this part...TPP, shame on you guys!!!!!!! :blast: :blast: :blast: :blast: :blast: :blast: :blast: :blast:
tpp rally guages If you want to see the guge info at night, I reccomend replacing the black bezel (the part that sits below the clear lens with the factory part...the TPP bezel does not have the light blue reflector, thus, ,no light on the guage face...you will have to do some adapting......but you can use the guage bezel from the idiot light guage...put power to the lights, and see what I mean---alot easier than installing the dash bezel twice

Marc, I have a factory guage package & tach. in my '71 Skylark. I completely restored the housings c/w baby blue paint. Relamped with lamp #'s per the Chassis manual. The lamps numbers are not the same for each unit. I noticed the two are equally bright but slightlty dimmer than the speedo. This may be to draw attention to the speedo at a quick glance. I purchased a repro tach for the car & noticed that the two supplied lamps were different. Not as in different from the manual, but different from each other. I don't recall exactly what they were. I had since found an original & decided to use it rather than the repro.. Felt pretty excited about it until I busted the dash after pulling a wee bit too hard. Turns out I completely forgot about the third fastener. It stayed bolted to the dash steel with a nice size chunk of vinyl dash cover still attached.
