Gentlemen I can start production on the 70 grilles within two months. BUT will anyone pay the $650.00 price tag? That is the question put to you tonight.
    Thanks Frank

Frank from the prior discussions I am assuming that is $650 unpainted? But just in case can you clarify this point?

I think the recent hx of sales is some indicator. Ther was a time within the last three or four years that you could buy a NOS 70 GS grille for $650 but with a very few exceptions that day has past . Seems to me the price is $800-1200 for NOS in today's market. Also I have had some 70 NOS GS grilles that needed repainting right of of the box.

I don't know what Frank's break-even point is but I "think" if you get them to $500 you will probably sell more than at $650. Once again it comes down to volume versus pricing. From my view, I think it would be better to sell the grilles at $500. Also, did Frank have someone look into making the stainless trim pieces and the lower body painted "chin" piece??? Those would be good sellers since so many have disappeared and many 70 Skylark grilles did not even have those pieces. Just an idea. If you want to go over some ideas Frank, shoot me an email or you can call me at my office at 727-398-6000 from 9-4, M-F, break for lunch at 11:15-12 Eastern time. I will also offer the website to post your items just like the overflow tanks. Let me know what I can do. Thanks!

    yeah

As with anything, it depends on the product. Not meaning to imply anything here: If the units are "perfect" repops of the OEM then you can get $650. If they are not, then you probably can't get $100. 70 NOS still come up on ebay/etc and usually get over $650.

Jim - I have also had NOS 70's that are all silver. I think the later ones came that way????

If you want to make the 71, then you will find more margin as they almost never come up on ebay/etc. Supply and demand! Plus you would make some people very happy! I would buy one just to hang on the wall! lol

If they were painted and as good as the overflow tanks are in representing the original, I would buy one, just to back up the nos one on my car. (might just swap them out and save the nos unit)

I would not want to mess with painting it myself. Would also want to know what someone would charge to paint it like the original.

Just got off line with mfg of 70 grilles. I am 90% sure that I am going to follow thru with this project. The grilles will be painted and the studs will be included.
Here is the bad news. The cost will be $600 to $650. I haven't given him the go ahead yet because I'm still working out some details. I figure four to five months. Sooner if possible. How about some opinions. Thanks Buicfrank

I have been in the market for a 70 grille for over a year now, unless I find one in the next few months for a very good price I WILL buy one from you, and even if I do get one I will buy a replacement from you at some point. Mine was destroyed by a youngster with a firecracker. He set the front of my car on fire. $600 to $650 complete ready to install isn't going to stop me.:TU:

Ok, here is my opinion. Grille at $600 will be a go for me. I actually need one now since I bought a 70 GS455 with a grill broken in more places than I can count. Also, did you look into the stainless trim. Those items are in dire need also, last set of "J" pieces I saw on Ebay went for $50-60/pr. The center piece, stainless V, would be a good one too since those have a tendency to split. Also, the body colored piece, stamped steel V, is also another needed item. I think you can have those made easily since those are simple pieces and won't require much engineering or time. Let me know your thoughts!

As soon as you have something definite, I will set up a page on our site for your new product!

Never heard of anyone else besides Frank attempting new grills. I would not put much credit in anyone else.
