If it’s that truly nice in person,I would consider that. You can’t buy and restore one for $80k. Not really, unless you don’t value your own time.

Mine will be an extensive restoration, but I’m still going to tweak it. Stage2 SE’s with a vintage B4B to mount my 7040243 on top. A few other things here and there. I just gotta.

You gotta do what rings your bell. It won't hurt that cars value a bit. Go for it. Smiley Thumbs Up Emoji(Tiny).jpg

Yes,cars like that, anything you can bolt and unbolt, without cutting or drilling can’t hurt anything.

Very pretty car! I had no idea the 70 GS455 4-speeds were so rare. Or that the 7040243 carbs were so hard to find, but that part now makes sense. I’m glad I always rebuilt mine over the years (46) and kept all the parts I ever changed. It’s always been my “driver”. I agree with the resto cost too. I put at least $80k into my 70 Stage 1 project …. Maybe I’ve got to put mine back to all stock.

… and I agree with you Brian, the B4B, headers, Stage 1 head conversion … it’s gotta go as good as it looks! I “Grand Nationalized” mine back in 1988. Make it yours!

If I had ANY clue these things were going to increase in value so drastically I wouldn't have sold mine. Numbers matching, no rust, triple black 4 speed, buckets, console and consolette. Factory gauges and tach. Sold for 26k in 2011 :(

Mine was 100% matching numbers and even though it had headers and a Holley carb on it the factory carb and exhaust manifolds were in the trunk. Mine also had a rear spoiler that was added before I got it.

You guys are putting too much creditably towards that asking price, it’s not gonna get that, it’s not a Stage 1 so minus $10k right there, minus another $10k wiggle room…..my reality meter says it’s a mid $70k car, very, very nice but again, NOM and NON Stage1.

I did meet Chris (hemikillerstg1) over at Ellingson's car museum in Rogers MN on Saturday. We spent about an hour and a half looking at all of the cars there, and probably about 15-20 minutes looking at the Black GS. I'll post the pics I took in a day or two.
The car is very very nice. We didn't get to look under the hood or in the trunk. The windows were down so we could see most of the interior. I also didn't lay on the floor to get a look underneath.
There were only three things I noticed that the new owner might want to fix. I probably shouldn't even be mentioning them. Also keep in mind that I wasn't there as someone that was there to look this car over for anyone. Just there to meet a local Buick guy and talk about cars.

I may have missed other things, but most of my time spent there was spent appreciating this car. I am a long way from having something this nice.

Slight pitting on the Headlight buckets. Nicer than driver quality, but not perfect.
GS emblem on the front grill looked original. Missing some red paint. I didn't bend over to look at the chrome quality, but I believe it was good. Easy fix.
The paint was nearly perfect. One guy in 100 might have noticed, but I saw the slightest, and I mean slightest waves. I wouldn't have even noticed, but I was looking at the reflection of the ceiling lights and noticed that they weren't laser straight. It might have been that we were in a room full of windows and there was great overhead lighting. It might have been that I've seen cars done by some real perfectionists, and have been to too many car shows. There were no swirls in the paint like I've seen in other black cars, and I didn't notice any flaws at all. I hate to sound like I'm picking this car apart, I'm not. It's beautiful. I would be afraid to drive it.

I'd say minus more than $10k for each. It't only in the past couple years the 455 cars have started bringing even decent $ and nice to see they have but $70-80k for a NOM Stage 1 4-sp. even in this market is probably pushing the limits.

my Guesstimate was leaning toward the big side, I tried not offend anyone with a GS455 4 speed car.

When you are in high-end Buick market, you now start to consider the 70 GSX 4-speed,unless it’s literally not your thing. Yes,a GSX should bring more. The point is,and only for example: “IF” you could get the black car for $80k,but you could get the equivalent GSX for $95k,I could see the majority coughing up the additional $15k. Or look at it like this: You have Xxx$$. What can I get for that.
