I noticed that all the GS emblems are missing, and the left rear tail light lens is missing. Aftermarket wheels are also on it. I have a feeling there are other things wrong with it. The seller isn't advertising it as a Stage 1 motor, ever though the sticker is on the air cleaner. What else is wrong with it?

One thing I noticed right away is that the front grille looks like a Skylark grille, not a GS. I have a feeling this is a Skylark with a GS hood and a 455 out of an Electra.

The grille looks like a black painted Skylark...

I have seen (and bought) much nicer cars, including two 70 GS 455 Convertibles, for $18k. :beers2:

I will admit that one of the convertible's was a real good deal, and worth much more than $18k once it had about 40 or 50 hours of elbow grease applied to it, Nonetheless, both convertibles started out nicer than that one. If you can't be patient to find one for $18k that is better, then spend a little more and get a good one now.

    Chris,

I called on this car and it is a Skylark that had some GS parts added to it. The seller told me "what do you want for $18k, a real one will twice that!"

I am looking for a 70 GS 455 vert. If you have any leads or can me find one I would be greatful. My preference is a car with buckets and AC and must be solid (NO RUST). I am not afraid to do some work and put some elbow grease in to a good solid car to make it nice. I'd love to find a "good" one in the under $20k range.

    Thanks!!

You thinking about the Red one you had for sale 2 years ago...should have brought it . From what Ive seen latly Complete rust jobs start 5-7k cars needing resto 10-15k nice ones 25k .This is for 70's as 71-2s can be had for a lot less .From my experiance best deals are in dead of winter.

I'm loving the deals I got on my 2 drop-top GS (72 GS350 w/ 455/TH400) and the newest addition 70 GS455 numbers matching. Trust me on this...that car on craigslist isn't a good deal

That was one of them, but not necessarily the one I was referring to. I bought another one this year and sold it as it wasn't as nice as my current one (it was nice, but the one I have was / is a gold concourse car), and I already had 3 cars, which is one too many in my wife's book. If only I could keep them all like you!:TU:
