1970 Buick GS455 for sale by owner - Wrens, GA - craigslist

    $24,750

    1970 Buick GS455

This is an original, and stock GS 455 that the original owner owned until late 2022 in North Carolina. It has approximately 96,400 original miles now. I’ve had the car for a year and love it. I retired last month and now want a more modern but “fast Buick “to have for years to come. I came across a nice (but needs painting and vinyl top) “1987 Buick Regal Limited, Turbo T”. This car have the exact drive train as the Grand National, and in this case it is rare with only 1035 being built. So I went to Kentucky and bought it. So the GS455 will need to be sold but not given away of course.
PAPER WORK: I have original owner’s manuals, brochures, Protecto Plate, Copy of original N.C Title, and the “New Ga Title”, original temporary permit from dealer for first owner to drive off lot in 1970, original in Transit broadcast card, and copies of most inspection sheets and insurance cards up to 2022.
ENGINE: It has the original 455 matching number engine. It is simply all original under the hood and only missing the 2 foam pieces that attach to the air cleaner breather and under the hood. The a/c is 100% all there but I have never tried to use it.

EXHAUST: Factory exhaust that does have a hole in the muffler but it’s barely noticeable. I believe the tail pipes has been replaced at some time.

TRANS: The original transmission is auto and shifts great as it should. It is not posi traction rear end.

INTERIOR: All interior door panels (minus driver’s arm rest) is in great condition, dash has no cracks and perfect condition, gauges looks good and clear, headliner good condition, original front bucket seats are torn in the seat area mainly and will need recovering, carpet in great condition but slightly faded in some areas (also have original floor mats) original bench back seats is near perfect. Floors solid as a rock.

WHEELS/TIRES: Nice set of Buick Rally Wheels and brand new “Cooper Cobra” tires with less than 300 miles on them. I also have the original Polyglas tire and extra rally wheel, jack, and accessories in trunk

BODY: Good, solid, and rust-free. There is i quarter size “surface” rust around lower fenders and rear quarter; however, nothing needs to be replaced. A few minor dents scratches here and there on body and bumpers of course (see pics). The trunk is solid and rust free and mostly original splatter paint, quarters and lower fenders are solid with the exception of quarter size surface rust on each lower fender. All floors are rock solid. I painted the hood flat black. The underside of the hood is in great condition but the outside top front area appears to have some filler in it but I can’t tell what happened. Of course the expensive GS grille is in near mint condition though.

VINLY ROOF. The vinyl roof is dry and coming apart but there is “Absolutely No Rust” under the vinyl top. There is a little surface rust in back left corner of roof by back window, which is common. The brown stuff that you see in the pics are 99% brown dried glue from when I started to take the vinyl top off.

DRIVERABILITY: The car is a daily driver, registered, and insured. It is not a car you should get in and drive from Ga to California until it is tweaked a little by the new owner. I drive it locally and attend local car shows and cruises because that what I do.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO MAKE IT AWESOME: Paint job, vinyl top (or take it off), front seats recovered, and add the fake wood applique on console gear shift area (its peeling). Maybe a tune up and fluid change. If not just continue to drive as is.

That actually looks like a nice car. Put a top on it and squirt the hood white, and you'd have a pretty decent original car.

Man, I really need to sell this vette...

I believe the "Batwing" wheel was only available on the GS 455 cars in 1970, which is even more odd.

The "Deluxe" steering wheel was standard equipment on the 4637/4667 models in 1970. The deluxe wheels had a nasty habit of cracking over the years, and I suggest the original has been replaced. That batwing wheel probably wasn't on this car when new, but stranger things have happened I suppose.

'' NOT SURE IF THE A/C WORKS'' I can help with the A/C. Get in the car, start it up, turn on the A/C, drive it down the road, if it blows cold air, IT WORKS And if it doesn't well, I guess it don't work. Then add the results to your for sale AD. ;]
