Car has A/C, big block, mild cam. Interested in everyone's thoughts on the following aluminium radiator: http://www.championradiators.com/buick_skylark_radiators I ask because I have this radiator already, was planning on using it on my last car but never did. I'm hesitant to stick a 2 row into a big block, espectially since it has a/c; so, I figured I'd ask everyone's opinion before I pull the trigger on selling it or using it. Thanks in advance
Modern Two row rads are perfectly adequate if your tune up is correct. I use a $145 rad from O'Reilly's Murray "433348"
I believe that is the one I purchased for mine. Great fit, using original clutch fan and shroud. Stock engine, it cools fine, spoke with rep prior to purchase and was gaurenteed to 400hp.
That one doesn't look like the "modern 2-core" from the specs. The 2-core is only 1.75" thick so definitely not the 2x1" tubes you might think. The 4 core is still less than 4" thick so I'd be doubtful that the 2 core could cool a big block with AC.
Do you mind me asking what you have? GS 455? Stock build? Cam? I contacted support to see what size tubes are on all their radiators, but if they come back and say it's less then 1", what radiator would you recommend that would be able to cool the engine properly. If it matters, I live in CA; so, it can get hot, plus the running the a/c.
This looks like what I put in my car. 2 core by 1" tubes. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-1970-...ash=item2387ce49dc:g:IQYAAOSw-3FZFdbp&vxp=mtr
The one you linked goes to their direct site and it shows a 2, 3 & 4 core. If they didn't say they were 1" cores then there's no way to know but the core depth was less than 2 inches. I can't explain why or how they list the same model two different ways on two different sites. I had several open and probably linked the wrong one. Here's the one I meant to link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1968-1984-...d=152602298844&_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042 On their site, this is the radiator I'd say you want to look at: http://www.championradiators.com/American-Eagle-Buick-Skylark-radiator-shroud-1967-1972
