I guess Hemmings figured they'd better get into the auction game. https://www.hemmings.com/auction/19...lert&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2021-05-25
Gardener Exhaust on that car?? I reason I ask: It's the first audio of a GS 455 running that sounds just like my own '70 did when she was all original with the stock exhaust. Steve weim55 Colorado
You seem surprised? I'd expect their stock replacement exhaust to sound pretty much stock. I have their performance exhaust (¼" larger pipes IIRC) on my car and it sounds a little louder than I'd expect from stock and a little louder than this car.
Very nice Rich. I wonder if the auction being a new service from Hemmings if it'll get the traffic that eBay, BAT, Mecum, etc. would provide and might keep the price down. I guess we'll see. Based on what your car was bid up to and another 455 car in Kissimmee (IIRC), and the market, I'd think $60k (ish).
Hemings has been doing these quite a while now. I bid on this car knowing I’m not winning. My 70 would probably self deflate it’s tires if I brought this home. This car looks super clean. Nice Resto John.
I thought it was something new for them. Do our cars know? I offered up my '70 Stage1 4-sp. to a few ppl who were specifically looking for a #'s matching one (along with some "I don't want to sell it but... $") & I wonder if the car feels betrayed, lol.
Been doing it a year I believe. So I will correct myself and say yeah, it’s pretty new. All sorts of vehicles offered. I am on the list and have bid on many. None in my price range.
900 hours' worth of restoration, even at $50 an hour, adds up to a lot of money put into it. I would bet the reserve is set pretty high, at least $50K.
30k when it was FRESH restored . So less now . http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/1970-gs-455-show-car.115427/
I like & agree w/ @Marco 's post at the end of that thread. Even up to a few years ago I'd have agreed w/you but the '70 Std. 455 cars have been bringing much stronger $ lately.
Read the entire thread , it didn’t bring 39.9 The last price reduction was 30k and took 4 months to sell ..when it was Fresh .
I've been involved with some sales on fresh restored cars. Initial prices 20% lower then waiting a couple of years. Especially if seen by more people. One car gained 40% with no additional work. just my experience and this doesn't always happen.
It's that and prices are up across the board right now. If one was getting out of the game, right now would be the time to do it.
