Hi, refinishing my hood inserts. Is the outer portion silver and the groove between the chrome strips silver too or the outer silver and groove black or both black. I have seen silver and silver and black and black.

If silver, like argent? and for the black was going with SEM trim black?
    Thanks

I can see on mine the tab that extends out is chrome under the silver paint so that adds another color combo to the mix.

They appear to be all black. If you have another picture that would be cool. Thanks

It appears that only the two raised outlines are chrome. That is how I painted the ones on the Tealmist convertible.

Not...black in the groove, and black on the tab. That's how mine are, exactly like Freds. It's not what you see, but it's the way they were as far as I know.

Wow, it's a mystery then, I guess. That does not look at all like the one in the other NOS ad you posted, Fred.

So silver in the groove and the outer lip too. So I guess mine are correct as I don’t believe they have ever painted.

    thank you Fred!

You think argent silver or silver cadmium? It looks pretty flat like 20% gloss.

Don't remember the build date. The scoop grille is an NOS piece.

I wonder if there was a cut off on the silver in the grooves an the outer edge and later on in production they went to went to black in the groove and outer edge. I have a set of nice hood grills that came off of 72GS I'll check them tomorrow and post pictures.

To do a color test you can use the white back of a postal card and do a spray out of each color and check them in the sun.

I have a 70 set and a 72 set that should be originals. My 70 set is like hugger said but my 72 set is black in the grove and the outer tab. I am guessing they did the outer tab black on the 72 being the the fiberglass part was painted black instead of body color????
