I first saw this car listed August 18th. I don't know what day it originally went up for sale. Seems like it should have sold by now it looks very nice. Not too far from me. Unfortunately I already have 2 other cars with green interior, one with the same green exterior as well.
Ya, me too. Like about 5 minutes! :Brow: Maybe I should go check it out. Would take some serious negotiation with the "finance dept." to swing this one though.
I posted the first lead on this car back in august and then checked back occasionally to see if it was still listed. It was on for a while and then off, now back again. Looks nice from what I can tell, kind of an uncommon exterior color as far as I have seen.
Its a nice looking car and its just what i'm looking but i'm turned off by the color and bench seat otherwise i would be all over it.
There is a swap meet at Patsy Lou Williamson Buick in Flint on Sunday, I was thinking it might be the last chance to take my GS for a drive. Are you going? This would be a good opportunity to check out the car. Does this make sense? "Engine has 5 out of 9 numbers appearing and they match in sequence"
I would assume by "appearing" that they mean "legible". Maybe a light stamp or gunked-up? I wasn't aware of the swap meet in Flint. Do you have any info. on it? Might be a good last trip of the season for the Turbo T also if the weather cooperates. :3gears:
For swap meet info see my other post. http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=113776 I talked to the seller: Car was originally delivered to a dealer in Illinois. Previous owner believes the car may have been moved to North Carolina which would explain the rust free condition. Has owned for 8-9 years. Paint is original as far as he knows. Don't know if it has received a body-on or body-off restoration. Frame and floors do not appear to have been painted, have a little surface rust. Higher performance parts were used when rebuilding engine. Runs nice and smooth. Has receipts and pictures of the work performed. Trunk and frame are solid. Has no more pictures that he could send me. So the next step is for someone to look at it. He lives 3 miles from highway 23 so I made an appointment to look at it Sunday afternoon 2:30PM unless someone has a chance to see it before then.
Everything appears original except for repaint and engine rebuild. Paint job is nice only some wear on the back corner from the car cover. All body panels appear to be original. Passenger door has what appears to be a tiny bubble under paint in lower corner. I would be concerned about it. Trunk lid has a dime size rust through on the lower corner. There is a softball size weld repair under the battery, seems to be properly done. Someone painted the frame at some point. Bumpers, headlight bezels, are in nice original condition but show some aging. Grille is cracked. Claims to have docs from Historic Society and Wayne Roberts. Previous owner claims 12.38 sec qtr mile time. There is a driveshaft loop. NO rear sway bar? I thought all GS's had this but I am not an expert on the 1970 GS. I took 17 pictures so if you want to see all of them just send me your email address.
This refers to the last 5 digits of the VIN being stamped onto the block. This is how you verify if the engine is "numbers matching". The numbers will be stamped on the driver side deck surface, between the head and exhaust manifold. This is also where the engine code is located, and should be "SS" for a Stage 1 car. I think my '70 was an "SR" code non-Stage 1 engine. Big cars used a "SF" code. I don't mind the green, but the interior is a no go for me. Needs to be black. Nice car though. Brian
I kinda question the overflow reservoir and the radiator top plate. I don't have the build date but the Vin barely pre-dates my white 12B car...which has all the commonly seen "early" parts under the hood. These items are easily changed. To change the 72 fan shroud will cost a bit more. I like the green bench interior with the green exterior. :TU:
