This car doesn't quite meet all of the parameters outlined, but it still would an awesome deal today. Unfortunately though, this car sold in 2016 (8 years ago).

Calling Adam Martin. Post some pics please. Bought the car back from Terry Kemper several years after John Kempers passing and did complete frame off. Hopefully Adam will post some pics of the excellent work he does for all you tire kickers that didn't buy it. LOL.

Steve, The car had one non original fender on it and I just threw on a couple old wheels to roll it. Rest of the car is original sheet metal.

This is a great example of “good bones”…if I could start with this on every job, I could hammer several of these out a year.

John passed before he could even get this car out of the trailer. So it sat in there from 2016-2021, when I hooked it up to my truck and dragged the whole rig home. I quickly found out that the trailer needed brakes and tires, but it was a short drive.

Sheet metal is mostly original. Both fenders were not…but came off original cars. Trunk lid had been replaced. And I replaced the tulip panel behind the rear window. Floors were solid. Quarters were solid minus one small corner on passenger side and that weird little spot above the quarter extension. Doors were nice. Roof was fine, but pitted from the dealer installed vinyl roof.

Completely numbers match engine and transmission. Carb, distributor. AC is charged with R12 and working. Radio is stock AM/FM with Bluetooth built in.

Let’s see if I can find some pics in my phone..

As Adam stated, good bones! Adam- I think priot to Mike buying it back, you and I were trying to figure out a deal for the car, parts, and trailer??? I think Ajesh was going to help out... Or maybe that was the GS Enterprises deal?

Max Damage I'm working on it!

So flattappet apparently thinks this car is for sale for $30k? LOL. Get a life.

Fantastic work and a great conclusion to an old thread!

Also, hilariously, the # 9 on the engine block that was used to discredit the other car is identical on this block.

Yes floor console was added. Tilt as well. Already was a bucket car, column shift.

Sport wheel added also. We figured adding these desirable options would not hurt the value of the car. Stay tuned, have two more Stage 1 4 speed 70 cars to do over the next several years.

You have built a beautiful car. Had I seen it when it was available, I likely would have been a buyer.

My very first GS was a 1970 Burnished Saddle, Burnished Saddle bucket seat interior, brown vinyl top, 350 car. As a 17 year old, brown was not a color I appreciated, so I painted the car white. Today I would be happy to own another triple brown car.

They're out there. Had a 72 Stage 1 with buckets and column shift auto. Wish I still had it.

I asked Mike a stupid question at last year's Nats. I asked, "why did you restore the Burnished Brown car"? Mike has all the cool cars, like SCO and one-of-a-kind paint cars, 4-speed Stage cars, and GSX's. But the more I looked it over, I understood what a find this car was with the matching numbers and original sheet metal.

I know that John Kemper had aspirations to get this car built right, but he didn't make it long enough to see that vision through. When the car was completed, and received Concours Gold at GS nats and MCACN, I sent a note to his widow, Terri, updating her on the car and sent a bunch of photos. She was over the moon when she found out. John would have been proud!
