70 GS 455 Guage don't work Replace sensor nothing Touch power wire to sensor grounding it out Guage inside moves Intake and motor grounded great Thought Opinions Thanks Will tackle it more this weekend
Wrong sensor, possibly idiot light sensor. Check sensor with an ohm meter resistance should change as engine warms up. Too much teflon tape insulating sensor ground.
x2. Also check gauge wire continuity, sometimes heat+ fatigue + 50 years can make continuity intermittent, usually found at the sender connector. Devon
If you are saying that grounding the sensor wire makes the gauge go all the way up. then it's the sensor for sure. You confused me with the "power wire"?
It may be protesting all that yellow paint!! You should be able to ohm the sensor out and watch it change with heat applied. If it doesn't gradually change then its for the dummy light and not a gauge.
Thanks guys the sensor had its own thread sealant already but the sensor itself had a good ground along with the entire block My brother is crazy with grounding everything to frame and battery he does custom sound systems
