Not sure if 70 had these but I know 71-72 did. I've seen them on Skylarks and GS's alike. I'm actually just missing the rubber on my passenger side molding but figured I couldn't be lucky enough to find somebody with that extra piece laying around. My car is a 2 door so I believe it's in the neighborhood of 52 inches long. I know the base metal portion that clips to the car is side oriented but the rubber may just be universal for both sides. Hopefully won't cost an arm and a leg, anybody out there have one laying around they'd like to sell? Doesnt have to be NOS or even perfect, just trying to fill a void. Thanks
I have a couple different styles of rubber, side moldings - I've always wondered if these were a dealer-installed option, which resulted in the variety. If you would post a picture of your driver's side piece, I will let you know if I have a passenger side to match it.
My 72 stage 1 came with this option not a dealer ad on. I'll check you need just the door piece right?
John, I'm currently missing the rubber from the passenger door as well as the whole piece on the passenger fender. I trying to get the fender piece from somebody right now on eBay. thanks
Thanks John, seems like several guys just remove them all once one falls off, some prefer the look without them anyway.
Thanks for taking the pictures: mine appear to be a little different, and, in any case, the passenger side is not worth selling. Good luck in your search.
Back when we used to get our cars painted (mostly 69 Cougars at that time), we would have them installed after a fresh paint job..So hopefully it is something they still do..They would have a board to choose what thickness and several styles to choose from..In these times (80,s) side moldings were common place..So hope things haven't changed too much..Hope this helps and you leave with fresh inserts..If they do offer them and are not outrageously priced (back then it was $100 for the whole deal installed), you may jut get a complete new set installed (if you like)..

Here is a website selling the riveted on side moldings that may be able to help if the shops cant..http://www.customautotrim.com/products/moldings/rivet.htm
if your mouldings have no mechanical fasteners to the fender, then they are aftermarket. Back in the day u could purchase a role of bodyside moulding, made nby 3M and install it on your car. they merely stuck on. I did that to my '70 chevelle.
Did you look at this website that sells side moldings http://www.customautotrim.com/products/moldings/rivet.htm ? They sell the riveted style side moldings and vinyl/rubber replacement by the foot..
Bob, I'll send you a PM. Bill I did go to the website you sent me, I looked through several pages of the site and found something thta was similar but seemed that it's not identical. If I did use it, I believe I'd end up needing to change the side molding on all 6 panels so they would match. It will be an option if I can't come across some used ones. Thanks again
I'm looking for an original set of side moulding for my 70 GS. If anybody else has a set to sell please contact me. Mine takes the factory type 1/4" male clips. Thanks, Bob
