71 and 72 tail light lens from The Parts Place

We are just about to get in our 71 and 72 tail light lens. The problem we are having is that we see some that are silver edges and some trimmed in black edges. What is correct? Is there any rhyme or reason for this? We are thinking of doing them in silver. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks :TU:

 

72 GS's had the black edges. I know the Skylark Customs had the silver edges in 72. Can't speak about the 71's

They were very similar, but 71 and 72 each had their own tail lenses. :Smarty:

We figured out how we are going to make them!!!

We are going to make the 71 GS tail light lens with silver accents and the 72 GS tail light lens with black accents. If you needed them to be different then you will have paint them.

I am now confused; the color of the trim is not the only difference. Is The Parts Place making 71's and 72's or just 72's with the silver accent?

I haven't heard anyone mention that they mount differently, with the 72's screws running down the middle and 71's around the perimeter. Are you making both of these styles? I hope.... :Brow:

 

These are going to be two different sets of lenses the 71 are going to have a silver edge and the 72 are going to have a black edge. They will be correct for the year, we know these are two different lenses. Sorry for any confusion.
