This is my 71 c10. My dad owned this truck and sold it when I was 4 years old. I remember watching it leave through the window of the house. I always wanted it back and in 2007 it was spotted for sale in a neighboring county. I bought it and drove it a couple of weeks until I decided it needed some work to be safe for the road and it set in the old man’s garage until this year. Last year I built an engine and trans and removed the tired and noisy 400 small block. I’ve spent the last few months getting it drivable with steering and brake work, cleaning and sealing the fuel tank and so forth. I got to drive it a couple of days until I decided the ancient b&m hole shot 2400 converter had seen better days and was too loose for street driving. I’m currently waiting on a 9.5 converter from tri shield and can’t wait to get it installed. That’s my sisters and I in the back of the truck in 1989.

Last week I started tracing the owners back. The truck had 12 different owners in the 17 year gap between my dad and I owning it. I found the name of the lady that brought it to Kentucky from Georgia. Her husband bought it in Macon Georgia around 1976. She was given the choice of the truck or a 75 Camaro when they divorced in 1982. She traded it in for a new 89 beretta gt in December of 88 at the dealer my father bought it from and says she cried all the way home. She sent me this picture after he bought it in 76 in Warner Robins Georgia. I have her x husbands name and address and some possible phone numbers so the search will continue.

Wow! I love the older grille you installed. My favorite.

I had a 69 identical color scheme. Bought at an auction and fixed it up and painted it with a friend. Mine originally only had the white on roof and bottom. We painted it like yours. Lots of good memories. I still have dreams about it! Congratulations!

Thanks! One of the owners hit a deer and that’s when the grille was changed. I like the older grille as well but plan to change it back when I find a nice origional 71 grille.
