BIENNE MAKE: BUICK CH0330-18 MODEL: 1GS43437A CHASSIS 43437IH17987 (this is the vin n.r. under my front windshield) (I found a part of this vin nr also on my th350) numbers matching ? and what does the numbers on my engine say ? between 1 and 3 exhaustport: T D 009 on the back of the engine: 382201 I know my car is an car that is build in europe does anyone know how many '71 GS's are made in europe and what the numbers on my tags and engine mean o No: thanks from holland :TU: jurgen
4=Buick, 34=GS,37=2 dr. hardtop. FL1 unsure, the 036463 is a body plant number only. TR166=saddle vinyl interior with bucket seats 42= lower body colour.......I don't have my manual here B=upper body colour...again no manual but pretty sure it's brown vinyl roof 12C= build date 12th month 1970, third week of the month. TD=350-4V,260HP, 360 TQ, 8.5:1 compression Matching number on the trans. indicates the original trans to the car. Check the front of the block, just below the head, behind the power steering brackets. Here you might find the serial # for the engine. The TD stamp is consistent with a '71 GS 350.
Interesting GS GM Suisse S.A. Bienne = Bienne,Switzerland Assembly Plant. CH033018 C = Continental ( Europe delivery ) H = Flint 033018 = Assembly ID No production numbers of Buicks for 1970 in Switzerland that I know of. :TU:
No, CH stands for Confoederatio Helvetica (aka Switzerland), 033018 is the production number for the Bienne/Biel factory for that model year. But all Swiss built Buicks had the H for Flint in their VIN. I have the Swiss production figures somewhere, but they don't show any information about the different models, just model year production figures.
Crazy. I did not know they assembled any Buicks in Europe. I am gusseing by the Flint on the Data the body was made in Flint and shipped for final assembly?
