LowFlyLark Time for a mild custom.

Maybe GS Stage 1 with rare rear bumper and wing but GSX? May be worth a look.

I am Taking offers on this classic 1971 Buick GSX Stage1. All original except Paint and wheels. I Hate to sell the car but really need the money. I am the 2nd owner and you see the car is in fantastic all original shape. Very easy restore to make it one of the ones you will see between 25 and 65K that they are selling for.

    Runs great Very strong drivetrain.

I dont know a whole lot about the differences between Skylarks and GSX's, but shouldnt a 71 GSX have painted headlight bezels?
Also, would a GSX have a GS trunk emblem?? I didnt see a hood tach either. Wasnt that part of the package???

This car does look to be all there and pretty solid and its got a/c.

Stage 1 GSX cars do NOT have stage 1 emblems on the fenders. So one should be really careful here. It is not clear what this car is. If those are original emblems it is not a GSX. Also someone could have put stage 1 emblems on the car.

Doesn't that fan shroud look pretty deep for a big block?

    gscalifornia Small blocks rule!!

Suppose it could be a 350 GSX?? Can't be a Stage 1 then, his links don't really tell you much unless the seller is Scott Fisher who says his car is 350 powered.

Way too many issues without a build sheet ...

Stripes, aside from color, are wrong shape. GS emblems shouldn't be there (trunk or fenders as mentioned). In '71 the GSX consisted of rear wing, stripes, rear quarter/rear spoiler decals, painted headlight bezels, dash emblem. Hood tach, front spoiler, big block, bucket seats, floor shift, etc were ala' carte.

    That is no GSX.
Looks like a factory 71 GS Stage 1 car, that someone added GSX trim.

Believe it or not, my '71 GSX came with them. It also came with the stainless door edge guards. I chose to leave both off when it was restored....

let me ask a question. If this WERE a GSX car and a stage 1 car, is the price fair?
second question. If this WERE a factory stage 1 GS, would the price be fair?
If not, what is a fair price for either combination?

The reason I ask is I live very close to this car. I could check it out and report back. Maybe the guy has some documentation, he says he is the second owner. Would it be worth it to ask him if I could look behind the door panel or under the carpet or seat for some type of build sheet?

"If" is the most interesting little word in the English language. "If" he had documentation to support those claims he would have said so and he would have posted it.

First thing to check would be if it was made in Flint, and get the body & vin number.

The buildsheet for a 71 Flint car would be on top of the gastank, or possibly under the driverside front carpet.

"If" it was a documented 71 GSX Stage 1 then yes it would be worth it. (There are only like 20-22 1971 GSX's with documentation regardless of engine size.)

"If" it was a documented numbers matching 71 Stage 1 then it would also probably be worth it.

    Other then that..................................................

From the pics, to me it looks like everything is wrong for it to be a GSX, including the Chevelle exhaust tips sticking thru the N25 rear bumper.

That fan shroud will not fit on a BBB so its got to be a 350. The car was repainted so I bet the X parts and stripes that are wrong were added. Not a terrible car but not worth the asking price if its a GS 350

It's a Fremont plant 71 GS car so more than likely it will be found to be a plain jane column shift GS 350 when the dust settles. This eliminates the GSX ID issue.

I would not say a GS 350 in that condition is any deal.:Dou:
