Probably a plant color variation. As long you spray the entire car the same color, I would not worry about it. Even though the paint is covered by the door panel, that does not stop the aging process. You are looking at 30+ year old paint, expect it to fade or lose color.

You may want to have a little R-M Diamont b/c mixed up. Their number for code 43 Lime Mist Irid. is # 2445 D. They usually match better than PPG on the older cars, and is a far superior quality b/c. We've been using R-M b/c for 12 years, and every once in awhile we get some PPG DBC b/c if our color doesn't match. But the difference in how the two spray is like night and day.
The R-M is very forgiving and lays down really nice and flat, with excellent metallic control. The PPG , even with slow reducer doesn't lay down very flat, and their metallic or pearl tends to get blotchy.

I agree about the PPG paint . I used to use PPG and we quit using it due to color match and color coverage issues.PPG is hard to work with and very hard to buff. As far as I'm concerned it is junk.

i agree with the ppg being bad too, but thats only because im a dupont supplier. if u want i would be glad to mail u a 3 oz sample of chromabase and u can see if it matches any better, just give me your address. dan.

I like the way dupont sprays but color coverage isn't great . Go all out and buy Sikkens the color covers better than any other brand.

Did you spray a test panel? Try that first because if your just looking at the color in the can it won't match very good. Once it is sprayed it will give another hue. Try it and see if that helps.

If there is a formula for that color in R-M, I would be happy to mix up a little and do a sprayout of it. I'm sure between the major brands there must be a very close match.

I had my 70 GSX painted with PPG and it came out great sprays almost as good as laquer. If you do your body prep. right and take your time it will pay.
