Not a Buick story but an old school friend of mine told this to me. I'm guessing this happened in the late 70s/early 80s

He had a ratty looking 72 Chevy C-10 with a well built drivetrain. It was a 327 vette motor that was far from stock with a 4 speed. He swore it turned over 10,000 RPMs. :Do No: I forgot how fast he said it was but I think it was 11s?

Anyway, This is San Antonio not too far from downtown. He is cruisin' home on 281 one night with no cars around. Along comes a 60s Cougar, pulls up next to him, nod his head and they're off. He said they were neck and neck at over 150 mph all the way from Hildebrand to Airport blvd (maybe 3-5 miles or so) before the guy in the Cougar gave a thumbs up, let off and exited. That's crazy!!! He said he used to make money racing truck car all the time. It looked ratty but was fast as hell.

He said he used to work at the air port and they would mix airplane fuel with high octane. He said it worked well in their souped up cars.

He swears over ten grand with a small block 327. Who knows. But the racing part was cool. If you knew the area I guess it makes it cool. It's by no means a straight strip of road and to be going 150 for miles on it is nuts.
