    Hi all,

My ride is about done in terms of the restoration... but am having trouble getting the climate control fan to blow.

I added the FM filter inline to the blower motor, and added a new motor as well. Besides the fuse and blower relay (both replaced) is there something I am missing? This setup isn't temperature activated, is it? I got it to run a couple weeks ago but unsure what I did to make that happen!

    Any insight would be helpful......

'71 had 3 base install noise suppression capacitors in the A-bodies.My guess is '72 is the same. One each at the voltage regulator, end bell of the alternator & the brake pedal support.
FM radio set-up had another in-line with the fan - only on the 45-46-48-49 cars.
Max-trac cars had one across the ignition coil.
All automatic cars had one across the vacuum solenoid at the TCS mounted on the carb..

Start by eliminating what you don't need. Is the in-line capacitor even working?

Check to make sure the fan speed resistor is plugged in, on the AC plenum in the engine bay. A faulty resistor will give you no speed control, opposite of your issue.
Ground paths are always an issue due to paint or corrosion. The AC relay requires it as well as the fan motor. Make sure your connections are good.

Dash fan selector switch can be faulty also

Thanks guys for some items to check. Steve, are you saying to remove the noise suppression caps?

Oh, I thought I should add that I ADDED the FM inline capacitor to the fan power feed. I don't think that would cause it not to run?

    Mark,
Just wondering if it's opened up & not conducting.
Another item to check as it wasn't a factory piece.

    Steve,

Thanks. The blower did work after installing that additional supressor. I am guessing something is loose or the fan switch is intermittent. I'll dig into it after the car comes home tomorrow and I get the carpet in... it sucks to be lying on bare bones florboards!
