This one looks kind of interesting for the price, and very clean. Especially if you're a small block guy. New steering wheel would be nice, and I have an extra black sport wheel already. Interesting to see idiot lights in a GSX. Doesn't say it's a clone, so maybe... I like the orange color too for something different. Heck, if it's authentic and you took care of it would it ever be worth less than $20K? They only made 44 GSXs in 1972 in the first place. Oh crap, I'm talking myself into it. Somebody should run the numbers on this one to see if it's real or a clone.

    Mike,

Your right, if that is one of the 44, it would be a great buy. According to the GSX registry, there is one Orange car registered, but who knows. I would highly recommend getting the Sloan documentation first, then go from there. I would love to have it also, but can't fit anymore in the garage at this time. Good luck!!

It is hard to keep from laughing. Not at you Mike but that they would try to pass that off as a GSX. You ought to see it in person.

Email East Coast which is the name of the place that has it and ask them for the documentation and see what happens. They have been trying to unload that car for a long................. time. This shows you how strategic pics and misleading wording can draw in the intended catch closer to the bait.

So Jim, evidently you know it's a clone. Well, so much for dreaming. For me the ad was rather convincing. Has the VIN number been checked?

This car has way to many thing wrong with it to be a real GSX..even just the pictures they are showing.. Instruments, bumper, ect..But it would be a nice car for someone.. Not alot of money for a clone if its as nice as it looks :TU:

FWIW, my 72 'X has idiot lights (and it's real, according to the original BOS, GM Canada docs, and Sloan)...when Marc was kind enuff to send me the Sloan docs on this car, I spent a couple of hours trying to picture a salesman filling in a WCO stipulating bumper guards (F&R) instead of ordering a gauge package! :af: Also, the original owner (who lives about 5 hrs from here) told me (and has pictures to prove) that the vehicle showed up without a GSX emblem on the grille (!) and a standard 2 spoke wheel! (I put an emblem on the grille and installed a sport wheel anyhow :Brow: ) Anyway, I noticed this car a couple of months ago, and thought from the ad wording that it was a GS with a stripe package added...nice to see it cleared up.

I don't mean to be a pain but I don't see anything wrong with it. In '72 you could order a GSX practically any way you wanted it. Only 44 people did. It doesn't bother me that there is a wrong steering wheel, or a stage 1 sticker on the air cleaner, or whatever else after 35 years. If it's a clone, it is. Otherwise, I'd like someone to say they checked the VIN and it's a clone or not. Lets face it, the originals aren't growing on trees. I might even like to have a 350 GSX. I remember back in the late 70s a buddy getting rid of his 72GS455 Convertible for a 72GS350 Convertible because it was a more reliable car as a daily driver. He'd been stranded with problems with the starter, alternator, etc. in the GS455 and just got tired of it all. I was a little bit shocked because his red and white GS455 was a lot flashier than the dark green and black GS350 that he traded for. We were in our early 20s at the time. I had an orange and white 72 Skylark Sun Coupe 350 2bbl, and another friend had a 71 blue & black GS455. Gas was cheap back then, and we definately were burning it up.

Sure would be nice to get some information from the owner.. I also asked him for some documentation and VIN.. We will see.. Like I said either way well worth the money with all these options!! :beer No I am not interested in buying the car but you would hate to buy something and get screwed.. Hope if it is real that you get it!!!! Thankyou for the info on the gage pack.. I have been wrong before and I will make mistakes again.. I gaurantee!! Seams that they did just about anything they wanted to on these cars.. Nice to have some verification!!:beer

The 71 Bittersweet GSX documented car at Salem even came with standard interior,so because it was an X doesn't mean it had top of the line options.BTW, that would be the X I d buy or possibly Daves 72 above. I'd even settle for the red one on here awhile ago.

Yes, I have seen the car. Nobody here needs this car. I will just wait for the East Coast respone but yes I looked at the VIN maybe a year ago.

I decided to call up the dealer myself. He said it's a clone. So much for that.
