All I have a 73 buick regal with a 350 and a dual downdraft (rochester)4bbl carb. (thats what the vehicle spec sheet says per the website I used. I honestly don't know if that is the same carb that was on it since I have only had the car since sat and haven't had time to check what kind of carb it is(didn't know part number) when I purchased the car from the couple they said that they have always had carb issues. The issue I am having is that I cannot get the carb to get enough fuel to get the engine running. If I pour fuel into the jets it will start and keep it running. It did end up dying(car) but I believe that was due to the battery. I have checked the fuel pressure and changed the fuel filter. I do not know anything about carbs. I know there is not alot of information to diagnose this problem but if there is anything I missed please just ask me and I will try to answer.....

Please keep in mind I am a novice DIYer. . . . .so if you can break it down for me. . . .Thanks everyone!

The number on the carb should be: 70442442 or 70442440

If the carb is not the right one then find a carb for a Buick 350 application.

If the carb is correct then I advise having it rebuilt. If you do not want to have it rebuilt then at least try to set the idle mixture screws to ge the air fuel ratio correct at idle. If you PM me your e-mail address I will send you a how to write up for this procedure.

Sean I appreciate it! and just to make sure the model number should be on the driver side towards the middle of the carb?

The driver's side of the carb, near the throttle linkage vertically.

Okay so here is an update with a new problem. I got the carb rebuilt and put on the car. After replacing the fuel lines from the emptied and cleaned gas tank; I hooked the carb up and made sure I was getting great fuel pressure. I turned the car over and it ran!!!!!! My problem now is that the idle is running really high. I am afraid to keep the car running due to the high idle. I have been told its the fast idle screw or its a vacuum leak. Can someone please help me determine the right course of action?

BTW Sean I appreciate all your help! Unfortunately I did not have my carb rebuilt from the guy you suggested; it wasn't anything he did or didn't do; just didn't feel comftorable sending it all the way across the country. Found someone to do it locally! I really do appreciate your help though!!!!!

It could be your idle screw turn in too far, holding the throttle open too far. Or if the idle screw isn't touching anything then, it could be your FAST idle screw and/or choke that needs adjusting. It's on the opposite side (passenger side) of the carb.

good times everybody; I was flipping out and there was a vaccum leak; I feel like a fool it was a hose I neglected to connect. regardless on the pass side of the carb there is a trianglular bracket with two holes in it if I recall correctly its says std and base. There is a thin metal bar coming out of the manifold that it needs to connect too. Can someone please tell me what that is for? Oh! and where in the world is the fast idle screw on that carb; for the love of. . . . . I couldn't find it! Please a picture something lol!!!!!:Do No:
