Can anyone confirm the number for a 73 Gran Sport Stage 1 4 spd Q-Jet is 7043246? I grabbed one on E- Bay today, and it's either a screaming deal or another piece of junk destined for my parts shelf. The listing is not clear, but it appears to be date coded 0403..can anybody tell me what that transelates to?

Are there any other appications for a 7043246?

    Thanks,

7043242 is the Stage 1 carb number for the correct one. I would like to come across another7043245 myself as it is the correct one for my 73 GS350 4 speed car. I have one but the build date is off a few months..
Here is a helpful site to breakdown Q-Jet carbs...

well - at least I didnt pay much for it!

So if understsanding correctly, the same part number was used for both automatic and 4 spd Stage 1's?

    Thanks,

    Yes, you are correct,
The 73 carb for 455 were weird in my book. For instance, if you had a 455,there was a carb for manual transmission and one for an automatic.
    7043240 was an automatic carb
    7043243 was a manual carb.
7043242 Stage 1's were the same either transmissions..

Thanks - I'll use the 246 for parts, I also have a big 73 455 carb in the basement from an Electra - I dont know what the number is off that, I bought it for the large bore body years ago...

Has anyone sold a 7043242 recently? What are they going for?

I think I saw that in a prior thread, and I picked up the 246 (for pennies) on the off chance it was the long lost manual transmission part number.. no such luck..ha!

Taking into consideration that there were only 728 units of 7043242 Stage1 carbs produced, they are nearly impossible to come by.

On another note, anyone know a shop that could rebuild my 7043242 Stage 1 Q-Jet and do throttle bushings?? Called Cliff's High Performance and he is booked up until early summer which isnt an option for me at this point. I have the number of a semi-local guy but im hesitant to take this carb to someone i dont really trust. I am located in NorthEast Wisconsin!!
