750 vs. 800 edelbrock

  1. hi guys...750 VS 800.
Externally the same but internals different? by rejetting can a 750 be made into a 800? Simple as that or is there more?
Went on edlebrock website and looked at all the jetting and rod differences but can't seem to find anything else. oh yeah, on the 800 it has a high capacity accelarator pump.
So, i have a 750, have been messing around with the rods and jets and have just bought the accellarator pump kit. does this mean if i change it, plus the jets and rods to that of the 800 i will be correct in assuming i will now have an 800?? who's on first? whats on second?? :beer
anyways, any input would be great..
    thx
    Rick

A 71-74 800 CFM Qjet from a Buick 455 is far superior to those carbs. Spend your money on good original and have it rebuilt. Wih an original Qjet the primaries are physically bigger than the earlier 750's not sure about Ed-brock.

Rods and jets won't turn a 750 into an 800. Rods and jets alter fuel flow; the cfm rating of the carb is a function of airflow. The bores in the carb need to be physically bigger to change the cfm rating.

The difference is in the venturies. On the 750cfm, the large venturi is 1 3/32in. On the 800cfm, the large venturi is 1 7/32in.

In laymans terms, they use different castings for the airhorn.
