Hi there, my Buick ruins me! Does anyone know what original sizes of the metering jets and rods are, and does someone know what sizes I have have to use to get the best fuel economy? Gas costs 6.30$ per gallon in Sweden Regards Anton Soderholm
Is your wagon 350 or 455 powered? I would stat with going over the timing from scratch and then start on the carb. To start with on your carb: You'll want to tune the idle mix screws at the bottom front of the carb to get max vacuum while the car idles in gear. Use a vacuum gauge and make sure the wheels are blocked well, this will help get rid of a rich or lean idle condition. This will also help the transition from idle to part throttle which will be important. Once you get that done you can move onto other things, but thats a good place to start. You can also run a vac gauge into the car and use it to get better fuel millage. HIgher psi on the gauge = more miles per gallon.
Hi, thanks for your answer. It is a 455 low compression engine. On this carburetor the idle mix screws are replaced with plugs.I have now metering jets no 69, primary metering rods 45, second metering rods CZ. Regards anton
I'm not sure on the specifics but I'd ask the same question in the "street strip 455 section" You'll probly get more answers due to more traffic. Goodluck, Sean.
