I agree-it looks like the door is sagging. If they’d done a small kickup at the end of the door (like a second gen Camaro or Firebird) it would have helped. But that is a nice car!

I believe roof strength (roll-over safety standards) regulations kicked-in around 1975. I believe passenger cars' roofs were required to withstand twice the weight of the car.

I dunno; it's still a pretty beast and it is the last of the "original" Big Buicks before they were completely badge-engineered corporate clones.
I always has the A/C on in mine, and in mine the back seat was only used for one purpose back in those days; - ahem...yeah, I'll take the 5th...:D.

Wouldn't the hardtop reinforcement's in the roof do the job?

I can see it being a bit weird..
What bothers me the most though is the rear window being fixed and not able to go down.

Did they make a hardtop coupe in 75 and 76?
The 2 door 75 and 76 Electra's pictured have a post which I assume is fortified.
From the side view it looks like the rear windows are fixed:eek:
Not my favorite looking car but some love it I guess like only a Mom can love her kid:D At least the windows go down..

Oh ok now I get it..
Maby they chose not to build one in starting in 75?
Do you know the production numbers between 4 dr. and 2 dr. Electra's from 74 to 76?
The coupes are nice but on a huge car I like the 4 dr. Electra's. I think the Park Ave's were all 4 dr.?
Oh yeah, didn't notice the window...

My father had two 76 electras when i was a kid. The first was a triple white two door. That was a real good looking car. The second was a grey four door. My brother and I got the most out of that 210 hp 455...

The funny thing is I hadn't really noticed that before. And like a cold sore on a supermodel, now I will. And you're right; - the proportions look wrong or even dumb without the vinyl roof.
Well, I've always liked the 74 more than either the 75 and the 76, so it just means I'll likely never go and look at one of these now.
