Wow, i owned one just like that about 15 years ago. Wonder if that's it?

Underpowered as heck, but it was a good car. I always thought it would have been neat to put a buick 350 in it.

Is this a 4 speed on the floor or the column? I didn't even know there was such an animal in that year. What was the largest engine/manual trans combo that year?

Never heard of a 4 speed column shift, but I've been surprised before.

I think it says that the car is a bench seat/ floor shift. I just learned of a '63 LeSabre 2dr that is factory equipped with a 401 4bbl,bench seat and 4 speed trans/floor shift. That has to be a rare animal.

They are bench seat floor shift cars. Mine was called a fuel miser model or something like that. It was identical to the one shown. I've never seen another, and always wished I had kept it. This could be it for all I know.

It had an aluminum trunk lid or hood or something weird also, can't remember after all this time. Maybe it was the bumpers. Something was aluminum that I remember being odd.

The lil six in it was worthless, but it was a good car, never stranded me. I drove it right off the interstate into the ditch during a blizzard one time on the way to work, and came back after work, pulled it out, and drove it home without a problem. Nothing could kill it.

A few years ago,I had a '79 Grand Prix LJ that had a gutless 301 4bbl,and a factory 4 speed with a 2.93 posi rear. It had a console like a Monte Carlo/ElCamino used.Highback deluxe bucket seats and trim, full gages and tach, handling package,no tilt column, but cushion grip rally steering wheel, automatic climate control, rear defrost, rally II wheels and no vinyl roof at all. The dash bezel was a silver finish, not wood grained. After I traded it off,I found out that Pontiac made less than 200 of them with the 4.9 4bbl and 4 speed.

I was long in comunication with the owner about this car, I have more pictures and information about the car. Will try to answer questions if I know the answers.

The car has a sagninaw 4spd and short disassembly we didn't know which stripe count it was. Based on the pictures and the mans information the only options on the car were the Radio, power brakes (not confirmed to be an option), and the 4spd over the base 3spd. The shifter is on the floor, I have a picture I'll put up tomorrow of it. Based on my run down with the owner about the missing bits of the car it will need both sets of front and rear fillers and probably the engine redone. The '78 231 has the old port design and the heads would need to be swapped to use any of the commonly available stuff for the V6 and the engine needs a full rebuild anyway.
The 78-80 Regals have the short nose and there were aluminum hoods, decklids, and core supports made for them though its anyone's guess as to which got them and they are overall the lightest of the Regals.

I had a rusty 68 chevy window van in the mid 80's ,think it was called a "sportvan" , had a factory 327 2bbl , 4 speed on tree, limited slip rear,_man that thing would burn rubber! bought from the original owner who had ordered it that way , I never have seen another. Chuck

That's a cool little car....I wish I had an open spot...it would be bad ass with a 350 infront of it. I haven't seen those light blues before...interior and exterior, but I haven't seen many of those early regals either.

I think the clock is an option, my 83 has the same cluster and steering wheel, without the clock though.

Oh, BTW, thanks for the extra pictures, really interesting. I emailed him the first time it was listed just looking for pics...

I confirmed two weeks ago that my Regal has an aluminum decklid to go with the aluminum intake and brake drums. Pretty sure the hood is steel, haven't looked at the core support that closely yet.

I would love to have this blue one, or at least certain parts from it. Looks way too clean to part out luckily.
