850 holley question

I got a holley 850 DP I am going to install on my 455. The motor is a stock 72 or 73, with a TA 212, s-divider (1 inch 4-hole spacer & milled divider), stock manifolds, stock-standard valve heads/low comression. I have a q-jet, one of the idle adjustment screws is bent and the motor is unresponsive to however I turn it. I have been having tuning troubles for a while. I imagine an 850 might be a tad large for this motor, but my brother has one he says I can have if I like the way it works. Going to better heads someday anyway. I do not have time to trial & error jet sizes right now. Someone please tell me the best jet size to throw in, adjust idle, & go. Maybe in a few weeks I will try diff sizes. Thank you.

I have a 850DP now and use 78's on all four. that should get you driveable until you can tune it some more. :TU: Just make sure that the 850DP has the PV protectors... They are too easy to blow and it will run like crap. Thats why I took mine off... Until I can get the protectors and rebuild it (no time:ball: )

Running anywhere from 78 to 82 at all four corners should get you close, that's assuming the carb has power valves in both front and back. If you have no power valve, you need to go up about 8 to 10 jet sizes to compesate. Jim Burek P.A.E. ENTERPRISES
