1984 Buick T-type Regal rear (paid $500 for it) with factory 3:42's for my D&S Buick 462 ... the rear cover was damaged ... will order the TA rear cover next week. (I forgot that on my list ... lol) :3gears: "ALL BUICK ... except for; The TRANSMISSION is from a 1970 Oldsmobile-98 ... a TH400 3-speed short-tail". ... the engine ($450 complete running motor with good oil pressure from BOP Connection) is from a 1973 Buick Riviera, the drive-shaft (chrome-moly, rebuilt/balanced off a 10-second GN) is from Brian Weaver of gbodyparts.com, and the rear ...
Good morning. I was watching Youtube videos last night ... OF CARS BLOWING THE GN 10-BOLT POSI REAR!!! My very serious question is this; What can I have done to the rear to make it strong enough for my '73 Buick 455 1987 Regal????ray:
It'll live behind your motor - I had a 7.5 behind mine for quite some time. I just swapped mine out for a GN 8.5. If you want to make sure though you can do what I did and replace the cover ( which it appears you plan too ) and put a 30spline eaton posi and 30spline moser axles in and you should be pretty bulletproof!
Thanks, mucho. The cover JUST came:TU:. I really appreciate this info. I guess by the time Dan Smith is done with my motor, I will have the rear done.:TU::TU::TU:
dont put that amsoil in the rear if you go with the eaton!! dino oil only or you'll mess up the frictions!
My "stock" t-type "GN" rear end is holding just fine. I run 10's and even whack it with the trans brake now. Moser axles, full spool, new style ford axle ends and bearings with a TA girdled cover. I have a couple thousand miles of street use on it and maybe 7 days of track use. So far so good. Also, my controll arms are chromoly adjustable rods, not the stock stuff. Lucas synthetic lube. Good luck
Thanks very much, Mike. Dan Smith... I don't care for. NO MOTOR... DOES NOT EVEN SHOW DAMN DECENT HEART TO RESPOND TO MY TEXTS, NOR CALLS! THIS IS A FIRST SCREWING FOR ME, BUT I KNOW WHAT TO DO. TTUL.
