My older son was over and I told him I ran a 9.96 a while back and said he was riding around racing people in a buddy's 95 Mustang that ran 9s in the quarter. Has Vortech (no bottle) and NO rollbar.
He said he saw the time slip.....probably the car in the other lane ran 9s. Or eighth mile? Asked him what the MPH was and he said he didn't remember. Hmmm

I'd have to see it to believe it!

I think most people would be "a little frightened" (keeping it PG) riding (racing) in a 9 second car the first time. I know it took a while to get used to mine running 10's, and its done that for 10 years.:Dou:

But, then again, I was able to give my girlfriend a ride in my car this summer; and she has the nerve to tell me a buddies car that runs 12's was more exciting.:jd:

    Hey Bruce,

It sounds like your son is trying to be a bit rebelous with his statements. Or trying to get the hair on the back of dads neck to raise. Either way it reminds me of myself before I actually started racing at the track. I was 18 yrs of age with a 1956 Pontiac that dad and I stuffed a 428 Poncho engine into. This thing had not one but TWO four barrels (niether worked right) with some raised compression. The trans was a muncie 4 speed with a chevy 12 bolt and a 4.56 gear with 28 inch tall tires. I still laugh when I think about this combination. Of course I was sure it was gonna run in the 11s. The best ET was a 14.01.:Do No: But I made sure everyone knew that I had a car with 11 second potential. I knew this because I had read High Performance Pontiac Magazine.

But anyhow.... I am thinking the best way to handle the situation is to tell your son. BE CAREFUL with a street car that is as fast as this Mustang.

Last summer there was a guy that raced a tube chassis newer style Mustang at Beaver Springs that was licensed and inspected that was in the low 9s high 8s.We were there when he shredded his Tilton starter trying to get it running.Rumor has it that he has over 60 grand into the thing. He was a schmuck about it too.All that money to race for pizza and a small trophy. He supposedly never takes it to any real paying events.Even so,it was a real sharp car and ran the numbers.I am not a big Ford man but,I have seen some ripping Stangs in magazines.
